Speake-Marin Ripples

The Speake-Marin Ripples collection, introduced at Watches & Wonders in 2022, marked a pivotal moment for the brand. It brought their first integrated bracelet design to life with a refined and contemporary approach. The collection's name derives from the horizontal ripple pattern adoring the dial. This feature adds depth and texture while highlighting the meticulous finishing techniques employed by their artisans. Limited production ensures exclusivity, with each piece embodying the elegance and sophistication that the brand have become renowned for.

Design Language And Iterations

The Ripples collection is defined by its unique LA City case, which references London rather than Los Angeles. This cushion-shaped case, measuring just over 40mm, combines polished and satin-finished surfaces to achieve a balanced and cohesive look. The dial is a masterpiece of texture and symmetry, distinguished by its ripple pattern that lends depth and character to the timepiece. A small seconds sub-dial at one o’clock introduces an asymmetrical element, adding visual interest to the design. The spade-shaped hands pay homage to Speake-Marin’s British heritage and evoke subtle references to iconic landmarks, such as London’s Big Ben.

Following the success of the original Ripples model, Speake-Marin expanded the collection with the introduction of the Ripples Skeleton. This series brings a fresh perspective to the collection, focusing on open-worked elegance and modern refinement of the calibre SMA07. The ultra-thin skeletonised design highlights the intricate interplay of mechanical components, creating a visually captivating timepiece. The flamed blued hands and polished 904L steel case add to the refined design, ensuring functionality and style. Every element of the dial is meticulously crafted to achieve a balance between transparency and structure, allowing light to play across the exposed movement while retaining the collection’s signature ripple motif on the small seconds sub-dial.
