Athough Cvstos have been around for over two decades, their current collections are fairly recent. The Cvstos Metropolitan line, for instance, was presented as a capsule collection in 2022. Despite having only two distinct models—one with a small seconds sub-dial at six, or a chronograph with two sub-dials at three and nine—the collection is rather diverse in its use of materials and dials. The brand’s distinct tonneau-shaped case, integrated bracelet and exhibition caseback are common for all models, skeleton dial or not, chronograph or small seconds variants. Inspired by urban lifestyles, Cvstos Metropolitan timepieces have a sizeable presence on the wrist, with a sporty-chic appeal.

Building The Cvstos Metropolitan Line With Cutting-Edge Materials
Sized at 42mm, with a lug to lug measurement of 51mm, the Cvstos Metropolitan watches are robust. Moreso if the case is crafted from grade 5 titanium, a material known for being sturdy, besides its other properties. Other materials used by the brand include 5N red gold or see-through sapphire crystal glass for the case. However, in titanium, the watch wears much lighter than its sizeable appearance. Vertical brushing on the bezel, case sides and crown guards contrasts with smooth polished finishes on angular edges. These finishing extends to the caseback, with a sapphire crystal window into the movement, and the integrated titanium bracelet.
Exposed surfaces on this multi-link bracelet are decorated with a brushed appearance, while smooth edges reflect light. These contrasts are more apparent in the raised central links. A folding clasp with push-pieces comes with an adjustable extension. In true urban style, Cvstos Metropolitan watches offer easy strap interchangeability without the use of additional tools.
Cvstos Metropolitan Line, Or How To Stand Out In The Urban Crowd
The limited nature of a Cvstos Metropolitan watch is best accessed via the caseback. Here, a skeletonised rotor is engraved with a QR code that accesses a unique page once the watch is registered. When the code is scanned, a page opens, displaying details specific to a particular timepiece. This information is also used to authenticate a timepiece and can prove to be quite useful, especially when the watch needs to be serviced.

Multi-Faceted Urban Dweller: Cvstos Metropolitan PS
With 50m of water resistance, and an integrated bracelet with easy interchangeability, the Cvstos Metropolitan PS is quite the handy urban companion. PS here stands for ‘petite seconde’ or small seconds. A vertical diamond polishing on the guilloche dial gives the watch an urban aesthetic reminiscent of high-rises. In contrast, the small seconds sub-dial at six o’clock features a snailed finish. A minute track on the flange marked with numerals is skewed to align with the angular appearance of the barrel-shaped case and dial. Numerals here are displayed in double digits. For those who love symmetry, a glance at this timepiece would be incredibly satidfying.
At six o’clock, a circular date window sits discreetly within the small seconds sub-dial. Be it the monochromatic aesthetic of the Cvstos Metropolitan PS Titanium Grey or the classic combination of the Cvstos Metropolitan PS Titanium Blue, the urban watch with a small seconds sub-dial is a study in symmetry and a true visual treat. Running on the CVS410 automatic calibre, the watch offers a power reserve of 50 hours when fully wound. This movement is visible through the exhibition caseback of the timepiece.

The Cvstos Metropolitan PS Skeleton’s Exposed Urban Landscape
A delightfully skeletonised version of the watch with the small seconds complication is the Metropolitan PS Titanium SQLT Green timepiece. The open-worked Cvstos CVS410 SQLT that powers this timepiece is visible through both dial and caseback. Green PVD treatment decorates the mainplate and bridges of the movement. Other components stand out in black, with rhodium-plated gears peeking out between bridges. Angled indexes seem to flow from the barrel-shaped case. Indexes and chrome-plated hands are filled with Super-LumiNova. At six o’clock is the seconds track, marked in white on a sapphire ring. Also at six is an aperture displaying the date. The green and black background facilitates legibility, and both time and date are clear, despite the activity on the dial.

Urban Timers: Cvstos Metropolitan Chrono Titanium
On the Cvstos Metropolitan Chrono Titanium watches, a rich red or blue dial displays a sunray guilloche pattern. Against the dual finishes of the case, these stark rays offer depth and dimensionality to the dial. In contrast, two rhodium sub-dials stand out with their circular brushed finishes at three and six o’clock. At three is the 30-minute recorder while the small seconds sub-dial is at nine o’clock. A date window displays the date numeral in white against a black background in a circular aperture at six o clock. A central chronograph hand features a lume-filled syringe tip. Indexes and hands are also filled with Super-LumiNova. On the right of the 42mm-by-51mm tonneau titanium case, chronograph pushers are integrated with the crown guards, giving the curves of the watch a seamless flow.
