Sporty Chic With Vintage Twist: Millesime Automatic Chronograph

For those seeking a timepiece that combines sporty functionality with elegant design, the Millesime Automatic Chronograph is the perfect choice. This collection features Tri-Compax chronographs with Panda dials, available popular colour combinations such as midnight blue with silver sub-dials and a black sector dial with black counters. The dial features a tachymeter scale on the periphery, while the Super-LumiNova-filled hands and indices ensure excellent legibility in low-light conditions. The 39.5mm stainless steel case houses the RW5030 automatic chronograph movement, which offers 56 hours of power reserve and drives the hours, minutes, seconds, and chronograph functions.

This Raymond Weil Largo Winch carries forward the Millesime Chronograph Tri-compax lineage of 39.5mm case size, sector dial and counters, and a new dollar green hue. The real action, however, sits on the caseback, with Largo Winch—muscular, tanned, amber-eyed hunk with the right cheekbones—set on conquering the unfathomable, with this new Millesime snug on his wrist. It was quite a feat then for the entry-level watchmaker to rope in the original Largo Winch artist Philippe Francq, to design the caseback for the new Millesime tricompax. Connecting the strap to the stainless steel case, are the vintage ‘scroll lugs’—that measure 45.5mm lug-to-lug—that are curved legs instead of straight for aesthetic purposes. The case features a brushed bezel, a fluted crown monogrammed with ‘RW’, and polished pump pushers on either side to operate the chronographs. In a vintage twist, both the dial and caseback are fitted with glassbox sapphire crystals having dual-sided antireflective coating.

Celestial Elegance: Millesime Automatic Moon Phase 39.5MM And 35MM

Raymond Weil introduces the moon phase complication to the Millesime collection with the Millesime Automatic Moon Phase within 39.5mm and 35mm case sizes. Positioned at six o’clock is a smiling moon on a moon phase sub-dial, resembling those cherubs on vintage mantels. Here, a full moon sitting above the clouds within the counter, sketched with a human face, having big eyes, long lashes, and thick lips. It adds a touch of romance with the full moon positioned on a starry night sky. Other signatures are the sector dial and obelisk-shaped hands, filled with Super-LumiNova that ensure readability in low-light conditions.

These timepieces are available in stainless steel with blue or silver dial and rose gold PVD with midnight blue dial. On the 35mm stainless-steel version is further enhanced by 16 lab-grown diamonds on the lugs, rendering it the sparkliest version. A genuine calf leather strap in blue or grey with a stainless steel or rose gold PVD buckle completes the look. Inside the 39.5mm and 35mm cases beat the RW4280 automatic movement that offers 38 hours of power reserve and drives the hours, minutes, seconds, and moon phase functions. The sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating, protects the dial while adding visual depth.

Verdict: Raymond Weil Millesime

It’s a real treat to see a family-owned brand like Raymond Weil making such a strong showing on the big stage. What we love about the collection is how it manages to be both instantly recognisable as a Raymond Weil creation, yet still feels fresh and exciting. The five lines in the collection offer something for everyone, whether you’re into dressy, sporty, or somewhere in between. The Millesime Automatic Small Seconds with its updated dial colours and the Millesime Automatic Chronograph with its vintage-inspired Panda dials are definite standouts for me. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care went into the design and craftsmanship of each piece, and the attention to detail is impressive.

Sure, the Millesime collection might not be a total game-changer, but that’s not what Raymond Weil is about. They’ve always been about creating solid, reliable, and stylish timepieces that appeal to a wide range of people, and that’s exactly what they’ve done here.
