Bremont Watches - A Tragic Turning Point
Headquartered at Henley on the Thames, the elite British company Bremont is known for its durable pilot’s watches. Bremont’s love for the military and aircraft came from the company’s founders, Nick and Giles English, and a tragedy that became the turning point of these brothers’ lives. In 1995, Euan English and his son, Nick, were flying a WWII T6-Harvard aircraft that broke down mid-flight. As Giles waited for his turn to fly, he learned that his father had died from the Harvard crash and his brother, Nick, was critically injured.
Six months later, Nick had recovered his strength, but the loss of their father kept churning the brothers’ souls. They knew time was too short to fulfil their passion for creating well-engineered mechanical devices. The late Euan English was a former RAF pilot with a PhD in Aeronautical Engineering. Euan would often come back home from work with stories of building aircraft and old clocks. Eventually, the brothers were in the passionate pursuit to make beautifully engineered timepieces that tied their love for mechanical pieces and aeroplanes.
The love for old aeroplanes often kept the English brother flying. In the 1990s, they were flying over France when they were hit by bad weather and were forced to land. They did not want the French authorities to find out about their illegal landing on French grounds. A kind farmer helped them cover their 1930’s biplane in his barn. The brothers took shelter in the farmer’s house and came to realize that the farmer was a pilot during the Second World War. He also loved watches and still wore his father’s wristwatch.
The farmer was almost a personification of the English brothers’ vision. His name: Antoine Bremont.
Thus, the name Bremont became immortalized in the world of watches.
In 2002, Bremont entered the horological world. Developed with care and tested against near-military standards, Bremont watches stand tall on four defining pillars: British Engineering, Adventure, Aviation, and Military. In addition, the brand ensures that most of the manufacturing process is kept within the borders of the United Kingdom.

Bremont has produced over 400 different military units all over the globe for real pilots. They are the exclusive watch providers of the UK Ministry of Defense. Bremont watch cases go through a unique Bremont Trip-Tick® construction. The steel bezel contains sapphire crystals, while the central body contains either a DLC treated middle barrel or Titanium. Each watch goes through nine anti-reflective treatment layers to either side of the sapphire crystals and B-EBE2000 hardening technology to guarantee durability. The defining engineering and manufacturing process of Bremont has given rise to three major lines of watches: The Supermarine range, the MB range, and the U-2 range. The Supermarine range features a soft-iron anti-magnetic Faraday case to withstand any harmful magnetic effects on the watch. A helium escape valve maintains the pressure level within the watch and keeps it equalized when the difference between the inner and outer pressure reaches a critical level.
