Baume & Mercier - The Initiation
With its inception in 1830, Baume & Mercier has carved a niche for itself and is the seventh oldest brand to manufacture Swiss watches. The Baume & Mercier watches are so designed that they capture authentic moments. Baume & Mercier crafts various timepieces ranging from the more complicated chronographs to the simpler, more elegant dress watches. Founded in the Swiss village of Les Bois, it initially started out as a watch dealership owned by two brothers Celestin Baume and Louis Victor. After making a name for themselves in Switzerland, the brand expanded its approach to the British market under the banner of ‘Baume Brothers’. Winning 7 gold medals in different exhibitions and 10 Grand Prix awards, Baume & Mercier made their way into the international market. In 1918, the director of the company decided to collaborate with Paul Mercier, another horologist based out of Geneva. Renamed as ‘Baume & Mercier’, the brand was stamped with the ‘Poinçon de Genève’ hallmark. A seal stating the highest Swiss watchmaking standards.
The brand believes in its signature - “Accept only perfection, only manufactures watches of high quality” for designing and manufacturing watches. After understanding the market for women’s watches they started designing feminine watches from the 1940s. Each timepiece crafted is elegant and perfect and leaves the viewer awestruck, every time one looks at the fascinating designs. Beauty and technical perfection have been their key parameters and they speak of unparalleled precision, grand mechanics, and fine quality. The Baume & Mercier watches primarily showcase traditional, attractive & pleasing to the eye designs combined with sophisticated and reliable mechanics, innovative technologies, and practical functionality.
The brand encompasses an impressive range of time tellers in the Clifton, Baume, Promesse, Riviera, Classima, Linea, Hampton, and Capeland collections.
Clifton
Starting with the Clifton Baumatic, a timepiece with a silicon escapement and balance spring. With a power reserve of 120 hours and a maintenance cycle of 7 years, it is one of the most technically proficient timepieces of our era. Equipped with a silicon escapement, it eliminates the crude effects of magnetism and requires less maintenance.
Classima
Another line of timepieces in the Baume & Mercier alter is the Classima. An affordable ‘Swiss Made’ classic taking its inspiration from the 1940s Classima collection. Taking a minimalistic approach in this design, the collection features a clutter-free dial house with roman numerals.
Stepping aside from the minimalistic approach.
Capeland
Baume & Mercier’s Capeland collection is a blend of modern design and vintage persona. Featuring a tachymeter, a red telemetric scale, and three sub-dials, it is a meticulously designed collection.
Baume & Mercier is one of the oldest brands in the watchmaking world. Their experience in watchmaking makes them reliable and innovative at the same time. A sophisticated collection of timepieces to choose from, Baume & Mercier is for the suave characters.
