Backdrop

Baume & Mercier is known for its suave, opulent, and sleek timepieces. Taking a step forward from these notions, the brand decided to incorporate the sports-inclined Baume & Mercier Clifton Club collection in 2017. There were timepieces that were sports-oriented launched by the brand but the Clifton Club is the first collection of diving watches by Baume & Mercier.

Features

Checking all the parameters of being a diver’s watch, the Baume & Mercier Clifton Club collection boasts a water-resistance capability of 100 meters and a protected crown. What makes it a true diving watch is the addition of the uni-directional rotating bezel that also doubles up as a minute marker. In some of the timepieces, the rotating bezel is absent. Apart from the diving DNA, the Clifton Club also features a date window at the 3 o’clock marker. The Clifton Club is also available in a bronze iteration, a unique entry into the brand’s arsenal of timekeepers.

Design

Baume & Mercier has a certain affinity with automobiles, especially motorcycles. The brand’s affection towards Indian Motorcycles is evident with limited edition timepieces celebrating the motorcycle manufacturer’s legacy. One such timepiece, although discontinued, holds a special place inside the brand’s inventory. A beautiful tribute to Burt Munro, the man who set the record for the fastest motorcycle 50 years ago. Munro created this record on an Indian Scout motorcycle. The timepiece featured Burt Munroe’s favourite number 35 on the 9 o’clock marker. Another limited edition timepiece inside the collection is also dedicated to Indian Motorcycle with a logo of the motorcycle brand on the case back. Apart from the logo, the timepiece also features the year 1901 when Indian Motorcycles was founded.
