Oris Watches - Real Watches For Real People

Designed for extreme outdoor sports, these powerful watches have distinguished Swiss watchmaking skills to their credit. With over 100 years of legacy in fine watchmaking, Oris have managed to build a niche of their own. Established in 1904, their first workshop was set up in the Swiss region of Holstein. Their watches are purely mechanical, consisting of a red rotor which is the symbol of Oris mechanicals. This red rotor is a registered trademark and symbolises the natural power that fuels the watches. Fiercely independent, Oris were briefly acquired by the ASUAG group, later known as the Swatch Group. During the ‘Quartz Crisis’ when mechanical watches were being overtaken by more affordable quartz movements, Oris went through a rough patch. After a management buyout, Oris decided to produce only mechanical watches and have been an independent brand since. Post the buyout, Oris have produced in-house movements like the calibre 110, a movement with a pure, industrial look. Whereas, the calibre 400 is a technical milestone with a five-day power reserve and elevated levels of anti-magnetism.

Apart from their watchmaking prowess and the addition of the PET plastic recycling process in a few of their products, Oris are also known for their ‘Change for the better days’ movement. A movement run by Oris sustainability ambassadors, it helps in creating a better world for the future by cleaning the beaches, roads, and parks. Oris are closely associated with the Jazz world; their limited edition timepieces have paid tribute to the trumpet maestro Miles Davis. Sticking to their philosophy of ‘keeping time’, Oris also paid a tribute to the Jazz drummer, Art Blakey with their special edition timepieces.

Each timepiece is a combination of useful complications and functional designs which are made available to the target audience at affordable prices. Oris watches are extremely popular and have adorned the wrists of many celebrities from Formula One, diving, jazz and aviation. They have created the finest of mechanical watches that cater to all outdoor enthusiasts. The watches are subdivided into categories like motorsport, aviation, culture and diving. The designing of watches is done, keeping in mind the mission to achieve perfection and excellence. With a passion to be innovative, both in design and technology, they have managed to attain greater heights.

Exploring The Depths And Skies: The Oris Collections

Oris have remained dedicated to its original vision: crafting mechanical watches that deliver both precision and enjoyment. The brand's collections embody its commitment to accessible luxury, with each series representing a different facet of Oris's expertise in design and function. The brand offers seven distinct collections known as, Aquis, Divers, Big Crown, Propilot, PropilotX, Rectangular, and Artelier.

Diving can be a tough sport, even for the toughest of the timepieces. Oris brings you a collection of watches that can survive the brutal intricacies of the ocean. Offering real-world functionality, Oris’s diver’s collection offers high-performance, superior materials and functions that exceed the expectations of many. The Aquis and Divers collections showcase Oris's mastery in producing dive watches. The Aquis series is renowned for its robust design, featuring water resistance up to 300 metres, a unidirectional rotating bezel, and a screw-down crown. One such example of innovation is the Aquis Date, a timepiece whose dial is made by the PET plastic recycling process that produces random patterns. Each timepiece is unique in its own way and contributes to a sustainable manufacturing process. The Divers collection, particularly the Divers Sixty-Five model, looks back to Oris’s first diver’s watches, particularly an iconic 1965 model. Under their vintage aesthetic, the new pieces are engineered using state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques.

During the 1910s, Oris created the first series of Pilot’s watches. The advent of aviation was in the books and Oris wanted to create something for the men with wings. The ProPilot collection offers watches with large crowns, clear dials, and rugged cases designed for pilots and aviation enthusiasts. These timepieces strike the perfect balance between practicality and style. Similarly, ProPilot X, with its lightweight titanium case and modern design, is tailored for those who value a high-performance timepiece with a sleek aesthetic. The Big Crown, one of Oris’s signature designs, was first introduced in 1938 and continues to inspire the collection today. Originally designed for pilots who needed a watch that could be operated while wearing gloves, the Big Crown’s oversized crown and bold numerals remain key features in its modern iterations, combining historical design with contemporary technology.

The Rectangular collection marks a departure from its more traditional round cases, offering a modern take on a classic shape. Launched in 2021, these watches feature stainless steel cases and minimalist dials, appealing to those who appreciate both timeless design and modern functionality. Meanwhile, the Artelier collection presents refined elegance, with polished stainless steel cases, classic dials, and a variety of complications such as chronographs and world timers. This series is ideal for those who seek a combination of sophistication and practical features. Each Oris collection reflects the brand's dedication to mechanical excellence, blending heritage with innovation to create timepieces that are both functional and stylish. Whether diving deep, flying high, or attending formal events, Oris ensures that their watches meet the needs of diverse.
