Speake-Marin – Belle Horlogerie
Founded in 2003, Speake-Marin is an independent Swiss watchmaking brand brought to life by a master watchmaker, Peter Speake-Marin. Peter, as a watchmaker, was known for refurbishing and restoring rare and collectable watches. Taking this sense of individuality, Peter started the brand that creates “Belle Horlogerie” collections.
Inspired by modern architecture and designs, the timepieces by Speake-Marin are rare and available in limited runs. These watches are conceived and designed inside their own creative studio which has been the birthplace of the most coveted watches crafted by the brand. The brand follows the virtues of independence, freedom, respect, and authenticity. Being an independent brand, Speake-Marin refrains from outsourcing and thoroughly follows Swiss-watchmaking traditions. The Collections And Timepieces
Speake-Marin’s very first timepiece was the Original Piccadilly. Featuring a simple design, it marked the beginning of a journey filled with unique and rare timepieces. The Piccadilly slowly garnered a cult following with its classical English design elements.
It was in 2005 when the brand started experimenting with complications, such as tourbillons and perpetual calendars. Apart from the complications, the brand also started experimenting with engravings. It was during this time the brand perfectly monetised the know-how it had garnered through the experiences of its founder, Peter Speake-Marin. The brand gained traction for its intricately-crafted dials that featured distinctive aesthetics inspired by various art forms. By the turn of the decade, the brand started crafting open-worked dials while retaining its tradition of engraving.
Today, the brand is equipped with various collections such as the One & Two, Temptation, Haute Horlogerie, Vintage, and Art Series. One of the most famous timepieces offered by the brand today is the Ripples. A simple yet elegant timepiece, the Ripples takes most of its cues from the Original Piccadilly. The name refers to the unique finish of the dial that gives out an impression of ripples in water.
