Baume & Mercier was founded as Frères Baume by brothers Célestin Baume and Louis-Victor in 1830 in the Swiss Jura village, Les Bois. Later Baume & Mercier was founded in Geneva in 1918 when William Baume, the director of the company partnered with Paul Mercier. In 1921 they expanded internationally by opening a branch in London, under the name Baume Brothers.
Featuring a combination of elegant simplicity and refined watchmaking, the timepieces in the Classima collection are ideal for everyday use as well as special occasions, as their timeless design easily complements any dress shirt.
This collection contains watches for both men and women, with minimalist, clean, and stylish designs. All timepieces in the collection feature round shaped cases made of stainless steel or red gold. Some also feature a red gold ring mounted on the stainless steel bezel. There are white, silver, and black dials ensconced inside the case with Roman numerals and stick shaped indexes to mark the hours. A few timepieces showcase the Baume & Mercier logo instead of a Roman numeral at the 12 o’clock position.
Some also have the iconic line guilloche decor’s redesigned version at the centre. Leaf shaped hour and minute hands in stainless steel, blued steel, and rose gold adorn the dial. Most of the timepieces have a transparent caseback that lets you observe the intricate movement. Scratch resistant sapphire crystal has been used to protect the dial and caseback, rendering them shatterproof. Alligator leather straps in various shades have been used in some watches with a pin buckle or a triple folding buckle at the end, while other timepieces have stainless steel bracelets in two tone or a single tone.
Many celebrity ambassadors including Ashton Kutcher, Gwyneth Paltrow, Andy Garcia, Kim Basinger, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Evangeline Lily, James Hunt, David Duchovny, and Teri Hatcher have endorsed the watches of Baume & Mercier.
