About the Longines HydroConquest Collection
The Longines HydroConquest collection debuted in 2007, designed for divers and water sports enthusiasts. This series reflects Longines’ long-standing tradition of producing high-quality diving watches, combining technical prowess with sporty aesthetics. Inspired by the brand’s maritime heritage, the HydroConquest line focuses on functionality and reliability, catering to both professional divers and casual wearers who appreciate robust timepieces. Over the years, it has become synonymous with durability and performance, making it a popular choice among watch enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.
Features And Design
The HydroConquest watches are characterised by their bold, sporty design and practical features. Typically featuring stainless steel cases with a brushed finish, the collection presents a striking appearance suitable for underwater exploration and everyday wear. Case sizes generally range from 32mm to 44mm, accommodating various wrist sizes. The dials often feature large Arabic numerals and hands, with luminescent coatings to enhance visibility underwater, an essential characteristic for diving watches. Additionally, the collection includes a unidirectional rotating bezel, allowing divers to track elapsed time underwater. Most models boast a water resistance of 300 metres, making them ideal for serious diving activities. The HydroConquest is available with a variety of strap options, including stainless steel bracelets and rubber straps.
Iterations And Movements
The HydroConquest collection features several models, including both automatic and quartz variations. Many of the automatic models are powered by the Longines calibre L888, known for its reliability and precision, offering a 72-hour power reserve. Among the standout models is the HydroConquest GMT, which combines this high-performance essential feature with a stylish aesthetic. This model showcases a robust design with a ceramic bezel insert for enhanced scratch resistance and a 24-hour scale on the flange of the dial.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
Longines power some of their GMT watches with the calibre L844. This modern movement boasts COSC-certified chronometer-grade precision and incorporates a silicon balance spring, ensuring exceptional performance. It is designed as a genuine GMT movement, equipped with a convenient quickset local hour hand to facilitate effortless time zone adjustments during travel. Operating at a beat rate of 25,200bph, akin to many contemporary Longines movements, it enables watches to achieve an impressive 72-hour power reserve, ensuring reliability throughout extended weekend periods.
