About the Junghans Meister Collection
Junghans have established themselves as a distinguished name in the world of horology since their inception in 1861. As one of the largest watch manufacturers in the early 20th century, they gained recognition for their innovative spirit and commitment to precision. The Meister collection, which originated in the 1930s, encapsulates the brand's dedication to crafting timepieces that seamlessly combine technical excellence with aesthetic appeal. The modern iteration of this celebrated line was reintroduced in 2011, highlighting Junghans' ability to honour their heritage while embracing contemporary design.
Design And Iterations
The Meister collection comprises various models, each exemplifying the brand’s ethos of simplicity and sophistication. The Meister Automatic is characterised by its straightforward timekeeping, perfect proportions, and understated elegance. It appeals to enthusiasts who appreciate a classic watch without superfluous embellishments. In contrast, the Meister Chronoscope presents a more dynamic aesthetic, blending classic charm with sporty functionalities. Its distinctive bowl-like dimples for the auxiliary dials exemplify the craftsmanship that Junghans have honed over the decades. This model reflects the brand's understanding of both vintage and modern watchmaking, making it a sought-after piece among collectors.
The Meister Damen Automatic showcases exquisite materials and meticulous detail, attracting attention with its polished case and diamond-cut dauphine hands. Similarly, Meister Fein features clean lines and a focus on geometric precision. The series showcases a meticulously crafted convex case, which creates a sense of depth and dimension, drawing the observer's attention toward the dial. Each piece in the Meister collection represents the principles that have guided Junghans for over a century: uncompromising style, precise engineering, and a profound respect for watchmaking history. Through their designs, Junghans continue to captivate watch enthusiasts, reaffirming their status as a pillar of German watchmaking heritage.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
The J815.1 movement exemplifies sophistication in a compact design, based on the ETA 7001 Peseux calibre. With a height of just 2.5mm, it enables ultra-thin watch cases, such as those found in the Farer Hand-Wound line and the Christopher Ward Malvern 595. This hand-wound mechanical movement features 17 jewels and operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3Hz). It includes a sub-dial for seconds above six o’clock and boasts a 42-hour power reserve. The movement is elegantly decorated with blue screws and Côtes de Genève, visible through a generously sized display caseback.
