About the Cuervo y Sobrinos Robusto Collection
Founded in 1882 in Havana, Cuervo y Sobrinos quickly became a symbol of Cuban luxury, attracting an elite clientele that included celebrities, politicians, and aristocrats. This storied heritage is integral to the brand's identity, as they channel Cuba's vibrant cultural and historical essence into their timepieces. The Robusto collection exemplifies Cuervo y Sobrinos' dedication to honouring this legacy. Through the Robusto 1935 and Robusto Sans Souci models, the collection reflects different aspects of Cuba's past, each encapsulating the spirit of its respective era.
Robusto 1935
The Robusto 1935 pays homage to the Art Deco period, a time when Havana was transforming into a modern city under President Gerardo Machado's vision. Inspired by a 1935 Cuervo y Sobrinos model, this watch features an array of dial options, including Verde Manzana, Azul Marino, Ceniza, and Habana, reflecting Cuba's vibrant atmosphere. Their design showcases luminous hour and minute hands, faceted markers, and a date window at six o'clock, protected by a robust stainless steel case and sapphire crystal. The watch is driven by the automatic calibre CYS 8130, with a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and a power reserve of 44 hours, ensuring reliable performance.
Robusto Sans Souci
The Robusto Sans Souci watches celebrate the glamorous nightlife of 1950s Havana, epitomised by the Sans Souci nightclub. The design captures the charm of this era with Arabic-style hour markers, and a small seconds sub-dial at six o'clock, all housed in a compact 38.5mm stainless steel case. These models are available with either a stainless steel bracelet or a leather strap, engraved with a depiction of the iconic Sans Souci entrance. Powered by the automatic calibre CYS 5159 and have a power reserve of 38 hours, emphasising both style and functionality.
