About the Panerai Radiomir Collection
The Panerai Radiomir collection is widely touted to have the richest history amongst all Panerai watch collections. Made in collaboration with the Italian Royal Navy's Lieutenant Commander Carlo Ronconi, the Panerai Radiomir was documented in a patent filed in 1916. It wasn't until 1936 that the first Radiomir was born. The Panerai Radiomir watch collection debuted as a remarkable innovation in the world of horology. It featured a highly luminescent dial, achieved through the use of radium-based paint. The extraordinary luminescence of Radiomir broke new ground, ushering in a new phase of clarity and practicality in timekeeping. This pioneering technique provided the dial with a distinctive glow, ensuring exceptional visibility in low-light environments. Today, the Radiomir collection sits at the fore of Panerai's portfolio and holds a special place in the hearts of Paneristas with its iconic cushion-shaped cases and exceptional practicality.
Design And Features
The styling of the case carries an authentic vintage aura with its curved and rounded appearance. Unlike the Luminor models that sport a patented crown-protecting device, the Panerai Radiomir watches contain wire lugs, a unique design that connects the straps to the case. With hand-wound or automatic mechanical movements topped with an anti-reflective, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, the Panerai Radiomir collection is available in various dial sizes ranging from 42mm to 48mm.
Iterations
The current lineup of watches in the Radiomir collection surpasses in terms of power reserves, with the Tre Giorni version boasting a three-day reserve and the Otto Giorni stands tall with eight-day running autonomy. Panerai, known for their big case sizes, reduced the usual 45mm to 40mm and named the versions, Quaranta. These iterations are even further rendered in opulent materials and come with more complications like GMT, minute repeater, and more.

ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
The Panerai calibre P.3000 is a hand-wound mechanical movement created in-house by Panerai. Known for its robust structure, it has a 16½-ligne diameter and features a three-quarter plate design, where a large bridge covers most of the components. The movement is equipped with 21 jewels and has a 72-hour power reserve, achieved through two series-connected barrels. Operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), it powers hour and minute hands in various Panerai Radiomir and Luminor watches.

Introduced in 2010, the Panerai Radiomir Composite 3 Days, is Panerai’s foray into the future. With passage of time, our understanding of material science has grown with new and exciting materials being developed. Ceramics are the “here” material, with the synthetic ceramic case of this particular watch being prepared by the transformation of aluminum. Being unreasonably light and sturdy, it combines technicality with a postured charm, giving it a very sleek desirable automobile look. Its 47mm square-ish shaped brown case houses a similarly brown dial and its in-house P.3000 calibre. The brown dial is silhouetted by luminous Arabic numerals and hour markers. It has a small seconds dial at 9 o'clock which punctuates the tranquility of the plain face.

This watch is a beautiful and chunky timepiece suitable for broad wrists. The dark grey bezel made of polished steel encloses a black dial. The dial is neat and tidy without chronograph and has luminescent hands pointing towards glow-in-the-dark indexes. There is also a smaller second hand on a sub-dial.With 100 m water resistance, this watch can be comfortably used for water sports. The brown leather strap with white stitches suit the watch perfectly. The price is a bit on the high end but the watch has automatic movement and a brand name like Panerai to boast of.
