History

Rolex is a British watch brand that was founded in London in the year 1905. It was the collective effort of Hans Wildorf and Alfred Davis. This watch making brand was later moved Geneva, Switzerland in the year 1919.

Design
The Rolex M116233-63603_ SILVER 10BR has a monobloc middle case and is made of Yellow Rolessor, which gets its name from the harmonious combination of 18 karat gold and 904 L steel. The dial of this timepiece is silver and has hour indexes represented by small rectangular markers in white, with a golden border around it.

Bearing the three pieces flat linking Oyster bracelet, this watch is two toned and the clasp is made of a folding easy-link with an extra 5 mm length for added comfort. This Rolex timepiece has a sapphire crystal over the dial, which is scratch resistant. Thus the dial is protected from external damage. A date features is located at 3 o’clock, which has a Cyclops lens over it that helps in magnifying the date digits by 2.5 times their actual size. This is a distinctive design feature of Rolex watches.

Features
The Datejust M116233-63603_ SILVER 10BR Rolex model is a certified Swiss chronometer, which is a designation given to those watches that pass the extreme Swiss chronometer tests of place and temperature, and are extremely precise and reliable. This piece uses the perpetual self-winding mechanical mechanism of caliber 3135. A perpetual rotor aids in the movement of the hands of the watch. This movement has been completely created by Rolex to give it its extreme precision. The timepiece belongs to the oyster series of Rolex watches, which means that it uses a patented system of a winding crown, the middle case and the bezel screwed down together so that it makes the watch waterproof. The watch is waterproof to a depth of 100 metres or 330 feet.

History
The Datejust collection was introduced by Rolex in the year 1945. This was the first wristwatch to display automatically changing date through an opening on the dial.

Features
Featuring a classic design and iconic style, the Datejust features a date window located at the 3 o’clock position for your ease in viewing. The date aperture showcases the Cyclops lens on the top, the most distinctive feature of Rolex watches. This lens magnifies the date by approximately two and half times for clear legibility. The watches in this collection have an oyster case, which is clamped shut and extremely robust. The core of the oyster consists of a screw-down case and a signed screw-down crown with twinlock system. This system renders the watches water-resistant up to 100 metres, enabling you to wear them for poolside swimming and snorkelling. The Datejust watches come with two classic Rolex bracelets, either the Jubilee or the Oyster. The Jubilee is a five-piece metal link bracelet with a concealed Crownclasp fitted at the end, and the Oyster is a broad three-piece metal link bracelet, which is quite popular because of its classic appeal. These watches have a standard 36 mm case, and are equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement manufactured by Rolex, the calibre 3135.

Associations
A Datejust was presented to an eminent gentleman by Hans Wilsdorf in 1947, on the 100,000th officially certified chronometer celebrated by the brand. The identity of this gentleman has not been revealed till this day. Christian Bale was seen wearing the Rolex Datejust 16013, in the movie American Pyscho. A Datejust has also been worn by Paul Newman in the movie The Color of Money, Bill Murray in the film Lost in Translation, and by various male characters in The Informers.
