What began as a small clockworks factory in Lengnau, Switzerland in 1917 was transformed into the Rado Uhren A.G. in 1957. The story behind the conversion of the small factory into a major watch manufacturer was permeated with the dreams of the three founders Fritz, Ernst and Werner Schlup. Firm adherents to a belief in the invincibility of technology, these three brothers guided their family business to the point of becoming a major player in the field of watch-making. In recognition of the promise of their enterprise, the company was acquired by the ASUAG Group in 1968. Later, the ASUAG itself became a part of the SMH Group. In 1998, this company was renamed as the Swatch Group
In 1962, Rado launched the DiaStar series, the world’s first ever range of scratch proof watches. A result of its continuous experimentations with technology, it was a runaway success and continues to be popular with Rado’s buyers even today. It was Rado which introduced the use of materials like ceramic, hardmetal, sapphire crystal and lanthanum to the watch making industry. In 2004, the Guinness Book of World Records recognised Rado’s achievements by judging the V10K to be the hardest watch on earth.
A product of sophisticated craftsmanship, the Rado R30942702 belongs to the Centrix Ceramic collection for women. As the name indicates, the watch has a major proportion of hi-tech ceramic as its material component. The sleek duo-tone bracelet consists of stainless steel brackets with black ceramic links. Secured with a deployment clasp, it sits comfortably on the wrist of the wearer.
A black ceramic bezel encloses the circular black dial. Joused within a 28mm case, two white diamonds each mark the quarter hours. Silver colour watch hands contrast elegantly with the black tone of the dial. Rado’s signature scratch proof sapphire crystal protects the dial against wear and tear.
Packed with features, the watch has a date window at the 3 o’ clock position. Powered by automatic movement, with a power reserve of upto 38 hours, the watch provides precise time and date updates. It also comes with the feature of water resistance to a depth of 30 meters underwater.
From day one Rado has turned visions into concrete realities. Pushing the boundaries of material technology and continually introducing the unexpected, Rado has gone from strength to strength in the field of fine Swiss timekeeping since 1957 and has produced one revolutionary watch after another.
The shape and style of the Rado Centrix collection makes it a watch to desire. The tapered, lightweight, flexible bracelet gently and sensually embraces the wrist, offering exquisite comfort and grace, as well as uncompromising luxury and sophistication. Every Centrix is crafted to perfection.
Andy Murray, Hrithik Roshan are among some of the famous personalities to endorse the Rado collections.
