In 1917, three brothers, in the small Swiss town of Lengnau collaborated to set up a clockwork factory to produce watch-movements. As technology advanced rapidly, the brothers Fritz, Ernst and Werner Schlup began to envisage a different future for themselves. In 1957 therefore, the clockwork factory introduced its first range of watches under the name Rado. Having turned into watch-makers, the company rechristened itself to the Rado Uhren A.G. In 1968, Rado became part of the ASUAG Group, which in turn became a unit of the SMH Group a few years later. Since 1998, this group has been known as the Swatch Group.
The firm faith in the invincibility of technology has been Rado’s cornerstone. Experimenting with different materials therefore, Rado introduced to the watch industry the use of hardmetal, lanthanum, sapphire crystal and ceramics. In 1962, they launched the world’s first range of scratch proof watches, the Rado DiaStar. In 2004, the V10K was launched. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, this is the hardest watch on earth.
The Rado R30122103 belongs to the Centrix collection for men. With its stainless steel bracelet secured by a deployment clasp and a bold circular dark grey analog dial, the watch has a simple, fuss-free appearance. Arabic numerals with indexes have been used as hour-markers. Minute markers are etched on the outer rim of the watch. The matte golden watch hands lend sophistication to the watch. Rado’s scratch-resistant sapphire crystal covers the dial, ensuring persistence of the watch’s brand-new look.
It comes within a round black stainless steel case, which makes it an ideal gifting option.
The R30122103 utilises a quartz movement to remain updated on date and time. A date aperture is mounted at 4 o’ clock. Functioning as a chronograph, the watch has three sub-dials displaying sixty seconds, thirty minutes and one-tenth of each second on the dial. It is also endowed with a feature of water-resistance up to 50 m, thus combining durability with aesthetics.
From day one Rado has turned visions into concrete realities. Pushing the boundaries of material technology and continually introducing the unexpected, Rado has gone from strength to strength in the field of fine Swiss timekeeping since 1957 and has produced one revolutionary watch after another.
The shape and style of the Rado Centrix collection makes it a watch to desire. The tapered, lightweight, flexible bracelet gently and sensually embraces the wrist, offering exquisite comfort and grace, as well as uncompromising luxury and sophistication. Every Centrix is crafted to perfection.
Andy Murray, Hrithik Roshan are among some of the famous personalities to endorse the Rado collections.
