Omega established itself as a strong force in the luxury watch market by paying equal attention to technology and appearance. Since the brand was founded in 1848, it has only strengthened its place by attracting a wide range of new customers.
Launched under the Constellation collection, the 126.96.36.199.13.001 is defined by the griffes or claws on the bezel. This trademark feature has been associated with the brand since 1982, when the Constellation Manhattan range was introduced. In 2009, when the company decided to relaunch the collection to attract a new generation of Constellation wearers, it retained the claws on the bezel to add a rich aesthetic value to the timepieces.
Like every other timepiece in the collection, the 188.8.131.52.13.001 model is also defined by the lone star placed above the 6 o’clock hour marker. A beautiful brown dial is enclosed within a 38 mm, stainless steel case with an 18K red gold bezel mounted on the top. Engraved with Roman numerals, the bezel adds to the elegance of the timepiece. Index shaped hour markers and dauphine shaped hour and minute hands add a touch of sophistication to the timepiece. The ability to resist scratches is rendered to the watch by the use of a domed sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective treatment on both the sides to virtually eliminate glare. Presented on a bracelet with alternating links of stainless steel and red gold, the watch can be customised according to your wrist for a perfect fit.
This device operates on Co- Axial technology, which helps it function with reduced friction to enable accurate timing. The sapphire crystal back of the watch lets watch aficionados behold the beauty of the Omega 8500 caliber, which also features a free sprung balance and automatic winding in both the directions. Being water resistant to a depth of 100 metres, the timepiece remains undamaged even when worn during activities like swimming and snorkelling. An efficiently placed date window at the 3 o’clock position records the current date, which changes instantaneously at midnight. With an impressive power reserve of 60 hours, the watch functions flawlessly for a long time.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
