An understated beauty that has a classic charm and minimal detailing, it is a perfect timekeeper to be worn for any casual or formal occasion. The Cartier Tank watch has been one of the pioneer designs by Cartier and till date defines an era of elegance and poise. A favourite amongst stars like Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn, this Tank watch epitomises elegance in its purest form. This timekeeper is one of the original designs of the watch.
The Cartier Tank watch is housed in a stainless steel rectangular case of 27mm and has a brilliant silver dial with the sword shaped blue hour’s hand pointing at roman numerals. The clockmaker’s four is visible on the dial keeping the traditional look intact. The watch has a beautiful crown set in a blue cabochon. The smooth silver polished bezel complements the strap made with black alligator leather and is secured with a deployment clasp. The dial is covered with scratch resistant sapphire crystal.
The watch is powered with high precision quartz movement and is water resistant up to 30m. A simple yet powerful timekeeper, it is a perfect daily wear. Its classic appearance and use of minimal essential feature makes it a favourite amongst the crowd.
The First World War succeeded in inspiring a whole line of watches when Louis Cartier, the founder of the iconic Cartier brand fashioned watches inspired by the Renault tanks introduced by the Americans on the Western Front. These intricately designed timepieces born from an unusual inspiration were eventually introduced by the brand as the Tank collection in 1917, before they were launched in the markets in 1919.
The Tank collection has cases available in both rectangle and square shapes similar to the proportions of the tough war-machine. The case is further accentuated with a cabochon crown and sword shaped hour and minute hands set in a classic dial with Roman numerals, exuding a vintage feel. The distinctively patterned bracelet is the highlight of this collection. It consists of rectangular links ingeniously integrated with vertical sidebars, which bring to mind the rugged construction of the tank’s tracks used during war.
Originally introduced as far back as World War I, today this coveted collection is crafted using cutting-edge technology to feature enhanced functions such as calendar and power reserve displays. They also offer a broad range of movements from the simple yet precise Quartz to the technologically complicated and unerringly accurate automatic.
The Tank collection finds its manifestation in 6 ranges: Francaise, Americaine, Anglaise, MC, Solo and Louis Cartier.
