The Rolex Date just collection marked an epoch in watchmaking history. It pioneered the date functionality in watches, which since then has gained tremendous traction among watch connoisseurs. This iconic series has been seen adorning the wrists of Martin Luther King, Christian Bale and Harrison Ford among others.
The Rolex Date Just M116231-63601_ PNK ROM for men has a distinctive round dial shaded in a captivating pink hue. Hour markers in Roman Numerals add a dash of old world charm to the dial, while the date display keeps you up to date with your commitments. The crown insignia at the 12’o clock position reminds you of the rich heritage of your watch.
A president style bracelet made of steel and gold with a deployant clasp ensures a snug fit for your wrist. Moreover Rolex rigorously tests the clasp for safety to ensure that it stays put on your hand even during strenuous activity.
The understated appeal of the watch allows you to carry it off with your work formals as well as offset it with your daily casual style.
Made of a charming combination of steel and gold to match the watchband, the dial features stick style hour, minute and second hands that keep you on time. A single crown gives it a clean look.
A water-resistance of 100 metres ensures that your watch is rendered safe even when you wear it at the beach or in the ocean. The automatic movement enables the watch to harness energy to function from your hand movements. Since the watch is an officially certified chronometer, its integrity is unquestionable regardless of the external environment.
The Datejust is preeminently worn as a work watch due to its subtle appearance, although it can easily be extended to any occasion due to its versatility.
The Datejust collection was introduced by Rolex in the year 1945. This was the first wristwatch to display automatically changing date through an opening on the dial.
Featuring a classic design and iconic style, the Datejust features a date window located at the 3 o’clock position for your ease in viewing. The date aperture showcases the Cyclops lens on the top, the most distinctive feature of Rolex watches. This lens magnifies the date by approximately two and half times for clear legibility. The watches in this collection have an oyster case, which is clamped shut and extremely robust. The core of the oyster consists of a screw-down case and a signed screw-down crown with twinlock system. This system renders the watches water-resistant up to 100 metres, enabling you to wear them for poolside swimming and snorkelling. The Datejust watches come with two classic Rolex bracelets, either the Jubilee or the Oyster. The Jubilee is a five-piece metal link bracelet with a concealed Crownclasp fitted at the end, and the Oyster is a broad three-piece metal link bracelet, which is quite popular because of its classic appeal. These watches have a standard 36 mm case, and are equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement manufactured by Rolex, the calibre 3135.
A Datejust was presented to an eminent gentleman by Hans Wilsdorf in 1947, on the 100,000th officially certified chronometer celebrated by the brand. The identity of this gentleman has not been revealed till this day. Christian Bale was seen wearing the Rolex Datejust 16013, in the movie American Pyscho. A Datejust has also been worn by Paul Newman in the movie The Color of Money, Bill Murray in the film Lost in Translation, and by various male characters in The Informers.
