The history of one of the most splendid watch makers, Rado, dates back to 1917, when a clockwork factory, the Schulp & Co., was set up by three brothers Ernst, Werner and Fritz Schlup. Their skillfulness and excellent craftsmanship gained recognition in 1957, when the clockwork factory was converted into a watch maker, and acquired the name of Rado. The beginning of an exceptional success story; the company paved the way for a large number of ground breaking technologies, such as the invention of the first scratch resistant watch. In the 1980’s, the use of high tech ceramic became a defining characteristic of Rado watches.
Since its inception, Rado timepieces have been far ahead of their time, and the model R20748112-152.0748.3.011 is no exception. Embodying a modern design, the piece is designed for men and is made of stainless steel, with yellow gold PVD coating. Crafted of the finest materials, the watch is a flawless combination of gold and silver. A silver dial is placed amidst the case, that measures 34mm. Index markers pave the way for the yellow gold toned hour hands. A date display is placed with dexterity at 6 o’ clock.
A two toned steel bracelet, incorporating high tech ceramic links, render the piece with elements of contemporary suavity, perfect for the gentleman of today.
The watch houses quartz movement for precise time keeping, and functions date, hour, minute and second. A scratch resistant sapphire crystal shelters the piece, protecting it from damage. Additionally, it is water resistant up to 30 meters, making it a long lasting timepiece. The edge-to-edge metallized piece exudes fearlessness and boldness of men, which is embodied by the person wearing it.
Rado was formed in 1917 as, Schlup and Co., which produced watch movements only. With the launch of its collection of watches in 1957, under the name Rado, it amazed the world with its innovations. Today with 470 skilled workers the brand produces half million watches every year.
First produced in 1986, the Rado Integral was the first Rado watch in high-tech ceramic. A revolution in the watchmaking industry, it fuses the purity of graphic linearity with the finesse of high technology, seamlessly integrating a metallised sapphire crystal, case and bracelet within parallel lines. This new collection remains true to the original but is new for 2014.
Rado has won the Good Design Award for its innovative Hyperchrome Ceramic Touch in 2013 and 2014 by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.
