First introduced thirty years ago The Omega Constellation is a series which is known for its dramatic designs and its unique “griffes” or claws. The collection has watches both for men and women and displays some of the most superior aesthetics in watchmaking.
The Omega Constellation 220.127.116.11.55.003 for women has a round shaped, white mother of pearl dial. The indices are intricately detailed with diamonds outlined with 18 carat yellow gold. The three o’clock position of the dial is replaced with the date window. A scratch- resistant, anti-reflective sapphire crystal makes up the case window which protects the dial while giving us a clear view of the clock face even in harsh sunlight.
A 31 mm, 18 carat yellow gold and stainless steel case encompasses the mechanics of the watch. The bezel is set with numerous beautifully cut diamond that sparkle radiantly while reflecting light. A winding screw is attached to the side of the case and is useful for manual regulation of time. The bracelet of this timepiece is also made of 18 carat yellow gold and stainless steel and unusually complements the mother of pearl of the dial. The instrument has a beautiful Rhodium finish with Geneva waves in arabesque.
The Omega 8520 caliber chronometre is automatic in movement and works reliably even in unfavourable external environmental conditions. The Co-Axial Escapement makes the devise greatly efficient. A free sprung-balance system with a silicon balance spring and bidirectional windings ensure the timekeeping quality. With a power reserve of 50 hours, the watch needs to winded manually only if it hasn't been worn or kept in a watch winder box for over 2 days. The safety feature of this timepiece ensures that it is water-resistant to a depth of 100 metres.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
