The Cartier Santos revolutionised sleek designing with high functionalities. The great think about this watch is that it is the original pioneer watchmaker Louis Francois Cartier\'s design. Housed in an 18 carat gold and stainless steel case of 28mm, this is simplicity and class redefined. The silvered dial with black oxidised steel hands points at roman numerals, adding to the classic appeal of the watch. The dial is protected with scratch resistant anti reflective sapphire crystal.
It is powered with self winding automatic movement of 049 calibre. The brown croc embossed leather strap compliments the dial beautifully. The watch is water resistant up to 100m. A perfectly subtle yet powerful design, this Cartier Santos watch has a hint of nostalgia which gives it the premium appeal.
Who knew a simple request by renowned aviator and friend, Alberto Santos Dumont, would bring Louis Cartier to design one of the first ever men’s wrist watches. When Alberto Dumont expressed what a bother it was to glance at a pocket watch while flying, Cartier took it upon him to come up with a solution, and designed a wristwatch unlike any other of its time. From then on, Alberto Santos Dumont wore his watch every time he took flight. He was renowned throughout Europe, and thus his Cartier watch became as famous as him. People began to get more and more curious about what he was wearing on his hand, and Cartier had the answer. This gave birth to the “Santos”, which fast became extremely popular with men all over the globe. Louis Cartier then went on to collaborate with movement maker Edmond Jaeger to mass-produce the Santos, which had the voyager’s name and went on sale officially in 1911, as the Santos de Cartier.
In 1904, Louis Cartier designed the first ever men’s wrist watch with a square bezel, leather strap and a small buckle. At first, Cartier had only used precious metals and leather as the straps for the watches, but in 1978, he delivered a relatively lower-priced steel/gold watch, preceded by an all-steel watch. The plate bezel affixed with tiny screws became a lasting feature of the Santos de Cartier range of watches. The Cartier Santos watches are also water-resistant up to thirty metres.
The Santos de Cartier watch is crafted in steel or gold, also featuring a graceful coupling of the two metals, with or without the embellishment of precious stones. Coming in a metal or leather skin strap, the timepiece rests easy and securely on your wrist. The case has a minimalist aesthetic integrated with rectangular rounded corners, evocative of its proud history, which called for a lithe and functional device. Most watches in this range have clearly readable white dials that have bold black Roman numerals and luminescent black oxidized-steel sword-shaped hands for enhanced visibility in low light conditions. Select models such as a few from the Santos Dumont line feature a stunning hawk motif- vivid in its imagery, rich in its use of precious metals and stones yet subtle enough to conform to the foremost ethos of the collection- practicality.

Now to the watch, it's one solid timepiece of uncompromising quality. The silver and gold rounded square case with roman accents, the plan white dial&,the brown leather strap makes it a classic yet elegant timepiece. The blue lumiscent hands is the trademark of the brand.
An interesting story for the Mohanlal fans worldwide, this watch was worn by him in his movie Raavanprabhu and he does make a worthy mention of it. 28mm is by standards small but this watch is an exception. The scratch resistant sapphire crystal and a high quality calibre is enough to compete with other brands
If you are fashion conscious, willing to spend money, has a penchant for minimalist yet truly remarkable high quality timepiece, The Santos is higly recommend.
