1982 saw the launch of The Constellation Manhattan, a watch characterised by its “Griffes” or claws. It gained popularity among watch aficionados for its innovative design and detailed craftsmanship. The collection was completely re-designed in 2009 and since then OMEGA has continued to widen the range with the addition of compelling new models.
The Omega Constellation Quartz 24 184.108.40.206.05.002 is a piece of horological artwork. As a part of the Ladies col-lection “Constellation”, the timepiece proclaims originality while staying deeply rooted in the tradition of the line.
Characterised by its famous “Griffes” or claws, the watch is fashioned completely out of stainless steel. With a 24 mm white mother-of-pearl dial, this watch is an epitome of class and sophistication. A domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inside protects the dial from damage. Hour markers and dauphine needles make the dial appear uncluttered and add a touch of simplicity to the watch. The legendary star associated with Omega adorns the dial at 6 O’ clock, while the company’s logo is positioned just below the 12 O’ clock hour marker. Its bezel is stationery and has been engraved with Roman numerals to enhance the appearance of the timepiece and make it appear sporty as well as elegant. The bracelet can be customised to fit your wrist perfectly. Sleek and slender, this watch goes well on a wide range of dresses and is apt for various occasions.
Making use of the Quartz precision movement with rhodium-plated finish and powered by Omega’s calibre 1376, the watch is greatly reliable and accurate. It comes with a power reserve of 41 months. Water-resistant to a depth of 100 metres, this watch can be easily used while snorkelling as well as swimming.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
