ReviewThe New MeisterSinger Vintago Collection: What’s Past Is Prologue

MeisterSinger has once again delivered big with the brand new Vintago collection, an elegant and fitting homage to a decade that shaped the world—the splendid 60s

May We Recommend

MeisterSinger has received significant acclaim in the horological world for creating timepieces with a single hand, presenting unique offerings for those who prefer a minimalist aesthetic when it comes to timekeeping. At Baselworld 2019, the brand introduced a new member to their exquisite repertoire—the MeisterSinger Vintago.

MeisterSinger-Vintago
The perfect example of the minimalist and austere designs popular in the 1960s, the MeisterSinger Vintago is a vintage-inspired modern timepiece worth coveting

Harking back to the bygone era of the 1960s, the austere yet sublime design of the timepieces is a tribute to simpler times. However, this is a reminiscence that marries the ineffable elegance and panache of that landmark decade with all the ingenuity and reliability of the 21st century.

The Watch Guide

This particular variant, with its opaline white dial and grey strap, presents refined restraint with its elegance

The highlight of these timepieces, besides the MeisterSinger staple of a single hand, is the date window between two and four o'clock

A Peek Into The Past

Featuring a clean dial, the MeisterSinger Vintago looks like a timeless classic—one that would not be out of place in a poster or a commercial from the glorious 60s. The multi-level dial, which is covered by domed sapphire crystal, adds depth to the monochrome look. As is the norm with MeisterSinger’s timepieces, a single, curved hand points to the time. A neat date aperture sits between two and four o’clock. Sized at 38mm, the brushed stainless steel case of the Vintago isn’t too large. It also sports a prominent knurled crown, making for easy gripping while changing the time.

The Watch Guide

The deep blue dial of this variant looks exceptional against the brown leather strap

Beating inside at 28,800vph is the Sellita 200-1 movement, with 26 jewels, which gives the watches a 38-hour power reserve

There’s something to be said about a watch slender enough to comfortably fit beneath a shirt sleeve, yet complex enough to fascinate even the well-travelled watch connoisseur.

A Dash Of Modern Magic

Even though the collection’s design is a nod to the past, its inner workings are as modern as can be. Visible through the exhibition caseback is the Sellita 200-1 movement, with 26 jewels and beating at 28,800vph, which gives the watches a 38-hour power reserve. The timepieces of this elegant collection are water resistant to 50m.

The Watch Guide
Definitely the most 'vintage' out of the four variants, with its ivory dial and dark brown leather strap, this Vintago variant is gorgeous. The MeisterSinger Vintago collection, with its modern inner workings, is a nod to our great past.

The collection is comprised of four equally stylish and sophisticated variants—opaline white, ivory, blue and black. These minimalist beauties are fashioned either with complementing calfskin leather straps or an elegant Milanese bracelet.

With the exquisite Vintago on your wrist, you get both matchless modern engineering as well as the quaint, endearing charm of the days that were. From the moon landing to The Beatles, the 60s were a truly iconic part of our history, and this collection has been designed to be an icon worthy of the epoch that inspired it.
