For almost half a century, Swiss watchmaking maison Raymond Weil has been composing legendary symphonies that continue to resonate with watch lovers. Having produced special timepieces solely dedicated to the creative treasures of the world music community, Raymond Weil definitely believes in the power of stories. The one tale that is appreciated all over the globe is that of The Beatles, a highly-celebrated English band who signified everything rock and roll in the 60s. The music-loving watchmaker has already made noise in the past with two beautiful odes to the Fab Four—one commemorates the musical story of the band, while the other pays tribute to their last album Abbey Road. As they say, good things come in threes, and the 2019 Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band limited edition convinces us of the same.

One Big, Psychedelic Show

Inspired by the eponymous 1967 album that was a total chartbuster, this timepiece is a grand celebration of the masters of music. The novelty grabs attention owing to the way it translates the album’s cover art onto its own canvas—the dial. Housed in a 40mm polished yellow gold PVD-treated stainless steel case, water resistant up to 50m, the grey dial showcases the black Sgt Pepper drum outline in the centre, which is featured on the album cover. Elements such as the outer edge of the drum, along with the baton-shaped indexes and hands in steel, are highlighted by yellow gold electroplated details.

The omnipresent Beatles logo that took centre stage in the previous two models too is positioned at six o’clock. The special index at four is a nod to the quartet who play a vastly influential role in the history of music and popular culture.
