9. Omega Seamaster Diver 300M ‘Commander’s Watch’

As the official timekeeper for 007, Omega introduced this special Seamaster timepiece, deriving its colour palette from James Bond’s rank and regalia. Called the ‘Commander’s Watch’, this timepiece ‘salutes the ensign colours of the British Royal Navy’. The shades of red and blue used on the NATO strap are seen in subtle ways all across the watch, and also in the not-so-subtle ceramic blue bezel, with a liquid metal diving scale and the first 15 minutes coated with red rubber. Ceramic is also the material of choice for the pristine, white dial, featuring blue hour indexes and blue skeleton hands. The date numerals also in blue, seen through the date aperture at three o’clock. The only date in red is the seventh. The 007 gun logo counterweight on the central seconds hand is also in red. Water resistant to 300m, this diver’s watch also features a helium escapement valve.

The watch comes with a black rubber strap and is water resistant to 300m, which helps it as a Submersible timepiece.

16. Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Berluti Scritto

The choice of the most distinguished men, the Hublot Berluti has this category ‘captivated by its bold and inventive patinated leather’. The watch is an outcome of toil, skill and craftsmanship. The all-black stunner had the moisture completely drained out to retain its longevity before it was enclosed within the sapphire crystal. The deep black Berluti patinated dial is intriguing. But what really commands our attention is the ‘Venezia leather with Scritto décor’ on the dial and the leather strap. The depth of the watch is further accentuated by the fact that there are no real hour indexes; instead, markers are embossed on the dial, almost blending in. The chronograph counters on the dial do not deviate from the all-black theme and merge subtly. Designed by Olga Berluti himself, the 45mm ceramic case is arresting and guards the powerful HUB1143, self-winding chronograph movement.

Complementing this generous size is the big crown. Adding to the vintage look of this bronze watch is the domed sapphire crystal glass, with an antireflective coating on either side. The movement housed within is an Elite 679 automatic calibre that comprises 126 components, including 27 jewels, and an oscillating weight with the Côtes de Genève motif on it. 19. Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Chronograph

A prestige brand dolling out luxury timepieces, Jaeger-LeCoultre has stupefied all of us in 2017, courtesy the Master Control Collection. Known for their mastery of high-end complication watches, the award-winning watch here is inclined towards a simpler style. Though it embodies the grand chronograph complication, the watch would more likely be known for its vintage-inspired design, simple lines and the sector dial. With a 40mm steel case, the watch chooses not to compete with the trendy, bulky cases popular these days. The open minute and hour hands, silver brushed element, blue Roman numerals on the tachymeter and hour indices reflect an old-school vibe. Living up to fine Swiss watchmaking that the brand is known for, the watch has a Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 751G automatic movement beating at its heart. The sophisticated deep blue leather strap makes the timepiece versatile, as an everyday watch or as a formal accessory.
