About the Breitling Superocean Heritage Collection
The Breitling Superocean Heritage collection was introduced in 2007 to mark the 50th anniversary of the original Superocean. This collection was designed to capture the vintage charm of the 1957 model while incorporating modern watchmaking advancements. The Breitling Superocean Heritage offers a nostalgic nod to the past with retro-inspired elements.
Design And Iterations
The Superocean Heritage collection pays tribute to the classic 1957 original with a vintage charm and contemporary advancements. The Superocean Heritage II, launched in 2017, enhances its predecessor with modern technology while retaining its vintage charm. This model features a 42mm case and is equipped with a high-tech ceramic bezel, offering durability and a sleek appearance. It is powered by the calibre B20, which is based on Tudor’s MT 5612 movement. This series in the collection has water resistance up to 200 metres and is available with various dial colours and strap options. Its refined design combines classic elements with contemporary advancements, making it ideal for recreational diving as well as everyday wear.
The Superocean Heritage '57, released in 2020, pays homage to Breitling’s symbolic 1957 Superocean. This model reflects its historical prototype with distinct design features, including a concave unidirectional bezel that slopes inward toward the crystal. The dial captures vintage charm with conical indices at three, six, nine, and 12 o'clock, framed by a retro-inspired layout. Notably, this series eschews a date display, enhancing its classic appeal. Powered by their in-house calibre B10 the watch holds COSC chronometer certification, ensuring precision and reliability. Meanwhile, The SuperOcean Heritage Chronograph are versions of this collection that offer superior chronograph technology, sporting two to three counter subdials. Also home to limited edition timepieces, these models are produced in an exclusive run of only 500 pieces.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
The Breitling B20 is an automatic time-only movement featuring a date complication. It is based on Tudor's calibre MT5612. The movement is equipped with a variable inertia oscillator and a silicon balance spring, held in place by a traversing bridge fixed at both sides, offering excellent resistance to shock and vibrations. Operating at a frequency of 4Hz, it provides a power reserve of 70 hours, making it a robust choice to power the Superocean Heritage watches.
