Seiko - Always One Step Ahead Of The Rest
Ever since 1881, Seiko has been enriching the watch industry with timepieces that speak of unparalleled watchmaking expertise. A brand that has progressed by leaps and bounds since its foundation, Seiko is today among the world’s largest and most coveted watchmaker brands. Being a non-Swiss watchmaking brand, Seiko watches have not enjoyed the premium tag its counterparts enjoyed. Though the brand caught up to it with their collection, the Grand Seiko. Seiko is known for creating revolutionary and out of the box watches. One such moment that brought Seiko to the western world’s attention was the TR02-01. It was featured in James Bond Octopussy, worn by Roger Moore. Why did it gather all that attention? Because it was the first watch with a TV screen. Even before that, while the Swiss watchmaking industry was going through the quartz crisis, Seiko watches were busy building over that crisis. Making it the first manufacturer of the quartz wristwatch, the Astron. The pioneers of quartz technology, where a timepiece is fueled by a battery. These timepieces were accurate and required less maintenance than their mechanical counterparts.
Spring Drive Technology
Moreover, Seiko watches have provided the horological world with a much-needed introduction to Japanese acumen. This acumen was brought in by the advent of Spring Drive technology. A marriage between electronic regulation and mechanical accuracy. A technology that changed the face of quartz movements altogether and provided these timepieces with even more accuracy.
A recipient of many awards and recognitions for its progressive approach towards manufacturing and innovation, Seiko has provided the horological world with many unique timepieces.
The Ambassadors
The brand is endorsed by Darya Klishina, a rising star of Russian athletics and Novak Djokovic, a professional tennis player. A rage among aficionados, their watches are sought after the world over. Seiko is equipped with collections such as Astron, Prospex, Presage, 5 Sports, and Premier.
The Astron
Astron has a few unique and important taglines under its belt. Such as being the world’s first quartz powered wristwatch and the world’s first GPS solar watch. Back in 1969 on Christmas eve, Seiko launched the world’s first quartz powered wristwatch, christened the Astron 35SQ. Now, the Astron collection is also a recipient of the world’s first GPS Solar watch. The watch has the capability to adjust itself to the time zone at the touch of a button and recharges its battery from the Sun.
The Prospex
A sports-oriented collection of timepieces, this collection is known to survive water, sky or land. Seiko launched its first diving watch in 1965 and since then has acquired the know-how of creating timepieces with strength and durability.
From recreational divers to professional ones, the Prospex collection prospers for both of them.
The Presage
The Swiss industry was known for crafting timepieces with a mechanical acumen. Japanese on the other hand had a more robust inclination towards electronically controlled timepieces. But with the Presage collection, Seiko has taken the mechanical world with its beauty, quality, and long-lasting performance.
The 5-Sports
Delivering quotients of reliability, durability and performance with top-notch standards, the 5-Sports collection is reigning over the mechanical watches segment for 50 years. Now, the collection is blessed with a revamped design, movement and zeal.

Nice and beautiful watch suitable for auspicious occasions. But for that price a chronograph watch would have been better. That is the only negative about the watch. Rest all perfect.
