Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean- Passion Of The Seas11:34 am
“Standing on the moon looking back at Earth-this lovely place you just came from-you see at the colours, and you know what they represent. Having left the water planet, with all that water brings to earth in terms of colour and abundant life, the absence of water and atmosphere on the desolate surface of the moon gives rise to a stark contrast.”
– Buzz Aldrin, Astronaut
Omega has been a pioneer of rich maritime legacy. Its positive contribution towards the conservation of natural resources has always been recognised worldwide. The deep blue waters not only serve as a subject of inspiration for watchmakers but also an important resource for the mankind. In an effort to spread a positive word amongst the people about the value of these natural resources, Omega strives to craft something new and extraordinary.
The brand started the Good Planet Foundation, as a way of directing their effort through a correct channel. Select watches crafted by Omega go in to the direct contribution of the foundation. From the time of the conception of the first dive watch in 1932 to the production of the award winning environmental film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Omage has been deeply rooted to the cause and has made it one of the defining elements of the brand. The Planet Ocean series is a milestone in this effort.
“…an innovative wristwatch that servers as a tribute to the GoodPlanet Foundation and the positive work it does for our environment…”
The Omega Planet Ocean timekeeper is a sincere commitment towards environmental conservation. A part of the proceeds from this watch are pledged to the full funding of the project to conserve mangroves, sea grasses and coral reefs in the oceans of Southeast Asia. The design itself depicts the striking colour of the sea. It is an innovative wristwatch that acts as a tribute to the efforts by Omega toward the Goof Planet Foundation and also towards the environment.
Reflecting the Colours of the Ocean
The watch is a revolutionary marvel when it comes to the looks and technology. Omega has added some of the best in house features into this watch to make it not only visually attractive but also to add to its watchmaking skills. Presented in a marvellous circular case of 44mm made in the highest form of stainless steel, the distinct sea blue dial manages to catch the attention of one and all. The stainless steel bracelet complements the smooth and classy texture of the watch. The blue dial supports silver polished indexes and a date display window at 3 o’ clock. There is a striking orange GMT hand and the polished blue rotating bezel embedded with a bright orange GMT scale allows you to keep track of two time zones. It is an ideal watch for frequent travellers who prefer enjoying the scenic beauty first hand.
The watch supports a helium value to release under water pressure at 10 o’ clock. The watch is powered with the Omega Calibre Co-Axial calibre 8605. The self-winding movement, with its time zone and GMT functions, has a three-level Co-Axial escapement and Si14 silicon balance spring. It performs with such reliability and accuracy that it is offered with a full four-year warranty. It is water resistant up to 600m. The case back engraved with a “Good Planet Foundation” is protected with a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. Ideal for the frequent traveller who enjoys taking in the beauty of the oceans, lakes and rivers first-hand the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean is a true tribute to nature.
