About the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Collection
Maurice Lacroix's Aikon collection traces its roots to the Calypso line from the 1990s, which was deeply influenced by Gérald Genta’s legendary designs: the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and the Patek Philippe Nautilus, both of which revolutionised watch design in the 1970s. In 2016, Maurice Lacroix reintroduced the Calypso under the Aikon name, updating its features while retaining the essence of its predecessor. This transformation allowed Aikon to bridge the gap between classic design and modern horological advancements, establishing itself as a notable figure in contemporary watchmaking.
Sophisticated Design
The Aikon collection is celebrated for its distinctive and sophisticated design, combining sporty elegance with timeless appeal. A standout feature is the six polished arms around the bezel, echoing the aesthetic of luxury sports watches. The watch showcases sharp angles and smooth curves, with details like the case tapering towards the lugs and the bracelet narrowing for a refined look. Some dials feature a sun-brushed finish with Clous de Paris patterns, while options include mother-of-pearl dials for women or a sleek black PVD coating on the Aikon Skeleton. Each Aikon watch is also equipped with an easy-change strap system for effortless adjustments.
Iterations
Aikon has been home to several iterations that are coveted collectable pieces. The AIKON Mercury captures attention with its innovative in-house calibre ML225, showcasing three freely swinging hands that create a captivating visual experience. The AIKON Skeleton reveals its intricately designed ML234 movement through a transparent sapphire crystal, offering a mesmerising view of its skeletonised architecture. One of the iconic watches in the current lineup is the Venturer, it is a striking evolution of the renowned AIKON collection, merging the durability of a diver’s watch with sleek urban sophistication. This timepiece is powered by the reliable automatic calibre ML115 producing a 38-hour power reserve. Among these, the AIKON Tide model is a reflection of sustainability, crafted from 100% #tide ocean-bound upcycled plastic, emphasising Maurice Lacroix's commitment to environmental responsibility. Meanwhile, the chronograph variants, including the AIKON Automatic Chronograph, are powered by the reliable ML112 movement, ensuring precise timing, while the AIKON Quartz Chronograph guarantees accuracy and ease of use.
