The Czapek Antarctique Green Meteor is a fusion of celestial history and fine horology, featuring a striking green meteorite dial crafted from an iron-nickel alloy meteorite. The dial’s Widmanstätten patterns, formed over millions of years in space, create an otherworldly aesthetic—each piece entirely unique. Encased in stainless steel, the 40.5mm case is defined by its sculptural double ‘trompe l’oeil’ curvature, a signature of the Antarctique collection. The plongeur-shaped hands and three-dimensional indexes enhance readability while reinforcing the watch’s distinctive, sporty elegance. At its heart beats the SXH5 calibre, an in-house movement celebrated for its architectural bridges and fine finishing. This timepiece embodies Czapek’s commitment to rare craftsmanship, catering to collectors who seek artistry, innovation, and exclusivity in every detail.

About the Czapek Antarctique Collection

Czapek’s origins trace back to the 19th century, founded by Polish watchmaker François Czapek. The Antarctique collection signifies a pivotal moment for the brand, establishing their modern identity. Introduced in 2020, five years after the brand's revival in 2015, the Antarctique brought several notable innovations. These included the brand's first in-house movement, a fresh sporty design, and a versatile range of models with varying complications. This collection quickly gained popularity, propelling Czapek to prominence within the independent watch sector. The Antarctique reflects the spirit of exploration, inspired by Sir Francis Drake, the English naval officer known for discovering the passage between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Design and Iterations

The name "Antarctique" captures the essence of adventure, paralleling the explorations of its namesake. The inaugural timepiece, the Antarctique Terre Adélie, encapsulated this theme, seamlessly blending elegant design with robust functionality, thus positioning itself firmly within the sport-chic category. Building up, the Passage de Drake series as Czapek's first sports watches, falls within the casual luxury segment. The 40.5 mm Antarctique model serves as a prime example of this philosophy. With a slim profile of just 10.6 mm, it comfortably fits under a cuff while exuding a modern aesthetic. The transparent case back reveals its inner workings: the SXH5 automatic calibre, crafted in-house by Czapek. This movement emphasises both performance and visual appeal, with components arranged for transparency and harmony.

The collection also includes the Antarctique Rattrapante, a 42.5 mm split-second chronograph that showcases a sophisticated blend of high-end mechanics and refined aesthetics. This series balances technical sophistication with refined aesthetics, appealing to collectors who appreciate high-end horological complications. A vital component of any stainless steel sports watch is its bracelet, and the Antarctique excels in this area. It features screw-through links and a proprietary micro-adjustment system, ensuring both strength and comfort.

ABOUT THE MOVEMENT

The Czapek calibre SXH5 is an extraordinary movement conceived in-house by the brand. Its exceptional architecture features seven intricately skeletonised bridges, reminiscent of lace, providing a clear view of the finely finished gear train. Drawing inspiration from 19th-century pocket watches and the Czapek Faubourg de Cracovie chronograph’s rotor, these bridges showcase superlative hand chamfering and beautifully drawn flanks. Powered by a single barrel and a micro-rotor crafted from certified 100% recycled platinum, the movement maintains a slender height of just 4.5mm while offering a robust 60-hour power reserve. The variable inertia balance wheel ensures precise adjustment and excellent chronometry, while some iterations have the exclusive calendar positioned at six o’clock reflects Czapek's commitment to vertical symmetry.
