About the Bremont Time Capsule Collection
Backdrop
Conserving moments of history that redefined the world, the Bremont Time Capsule collection is home to watches that are built in limited numbers. The Time Capsule collection is home to some rare materials such as the original parts from the fighter aircraft P-51 Mustang or wooden trimmings from Stephen Hawking’s table.
The Capsules from the WWII-Era
The limited-edition P-51 by Bremont is equipped with some original parts from the P-51 Mustang, an American fighter aircraft from the Second World War. Another timepiece, the Codebreaker is a tribute to the machine that broke the cypher device employed by Nazi Germany in WW2. The Codebreaker’s movement, BE-83AR is equipped with materials salvaged from the original Enigma machine.
The Hawking
Apart from the Codebreaker and P-51, another timepiece that captures the essence of the Bremont Time Capsule collection is the Limited Edition Hawking series. The watches under this series are unique as the case back is trimmed with wooden pieces taken from the desk over which Stephen Hawking made his discoveries. The Limited Edition Hawking is also home to one unique set of timepieces called the Quantum. The Quantum is a ladies’ watch and the dial of the watch is entirely made of a meteorite. These watches are also equipped with a veneer from Stephen Hawking’s table.
The H-4 Hercules
Bremont also celebrates the remarkable Howard Hughes, an actor, an aviator, and a philanthropist, who built the H-4 Hercules, the only plane with the world’s largest wingspan. Bremont decided to build a Time Capsule to commemorate this aviation marvel. The Rotor inside the Bremont Limited Edition H-4 Hercules series is made with the same birchwood that was used in the original H4 Hercules aircraft.
The Longitude
The Bremont Limited Edition Longitude features the brand’s first in-house movement, the ENG300. Apart from the movement, the Longitude is also equipped with original brass from the Flamsteed Meridian Line installed inside the Royal Observatory Greenwich. The Longitude series features a red line running vertically depicting the Prime Meridian that vertically divides the planet in two. Apart from the Prime Meridian, the series also features a small second sub-dial at the 9 o’clock marker, a date window at the 3 o’clock marker, and a power reserve indicator at the 6 o’clock marker.
The Aviation Heritage
Celebrating its aviation heritage, the Bremont Wright Flyer is a homage to the first aircraft ever built. The Wright Flyer series features the original fabric from the 1903 Wright Flyer aircraft. As this series is crafted from a very rare material, these timepieces are only limited to 50 pieces. The Bremont Time Capsule is not just about conserving timepieces, it is also about philanthropy. The Bremont DH-88 series is about raising funds for the Shuttleworth collection. Shuttleworth is known for conserving and displaying the world’s rare collections of aircraft. In a bid to conserve the first supercruise airliner, the Concorde, Bremont initiated the Limited Edition Supersonic series. The Supersonic series is also the brand’s first manual-winding watch and is equipped with a piece of aluminium from the last Concorde inside Heathrow Airport.
