History
The Place Vendome is a square in the middle of the French capital, Paris. While Czapek was crafting exuberant timepieces, he decided to open a boutique in mid 19th century. This boutique is considered the first Haute Horlogerie boutique inside the Parisian square. To mark this milestone, Czapek introduced the Place Vendome collection in 2017.
The Czapek Renaissance
As per Czapek, “It highlights the travel through time from past to present and now from present to future.” The collection is in itself a limited edition and floats through the idea of preservation and innovation. One such timepiece that perfectly encapsulates the conundrum of time is the Place Vendome Dark Matter. A GMT, the Dark Matter imbibes the idea of an industrial look with the aesthetics of a pocket watch. The case is made with a grade 5 titanium and is DLC coated much like an F-117 Nighthawk. To balance modernity with classicism, the hands are crafted with 18kt white gold. Apart from the Dark Matter, the collection is also home to the Titanium Ombre. Ombre fiddles with the graciousness of Titanium and offers a much warmer approach. The Czapek Place Vendome Titanium Ombre was awarded the ‘Watch of the Year’ award in 2019. Though the collection is primarily made with titanium, there is this one timepiece that holds the distinction of being opulent. The Czapek Place Vendome Platinum ‘Etincelles’ is equipped with a platinum case and the bezel is studded with 72 baguette-cut diamonds.
Features
The Czapek Place Vendome collection is a complicated set of timepieces. The collection is equipped with features such as a Day-Night indicator, Power Reserve indicator, Second Time Zone, Small Seconds and a Tourbillon. The Tourbillon is perfectly placed between the 7 and 8 o’clock marker. Whereas, the small seconds are placed between the 4 and 5 o’clock marker. The dial keeping the time is placed at the 12 o’clock marker with the power reserve indicator.
