Parmigiani’s Sporty Flavour: The Tonda PF Sport Watches

The recently released Tonda PF Sport series, offering the Tonda PF Sport Automatic and the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph, is a direct result of sport-chic aesthetics clubbed with technical excellence. While the case for the Tonda PF Sport Automatic measures 41mm in diameter, the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph is a 42mm model. Giving these timepieces their distinct sporty personality are their bezel, dials, and strap. Their knurled bezel has 160 incisions instead of the 225 on the bezel of the regular Tonda PF collection, and the dial features a spectacular hand-guilloche triangular nail pattern. A first for the series, these Tonda PF Sport timepieces are now paired with cordura-treated rubber straps.

The applied hour markers on the dial are coated with black Super-LumiNova, while the black textured strap has been stitched and crafted with hands. The Tonda PF Sport Chronograph replaces the Tonda GT line and comes with an improved profile of the case and more pronounced notches. Moreover, Parmigiani have done away with the large date to present the PF logo prominently, whereas the shortened indexes and flange now make more space for the guilloche to impress the wearer. The manufacture have chosen hand-applied 18-karat rose gold indexes with black luminescent coating for the gold versions, while the steel versions feature hand-applied 18-karat gold rhodium-plated indexes with black luminescent coating. All the models in the series are also water-resistant to 100m and feature see-through casebacks for a view of the movements at work.

Driving The Tonda PF Sport Automatic And Chronograph

The Tonda PF Sport Automatic finds its power in the PF770 automatic-winding manufacture movement, which operates at a frequency of 4Hz. This double-barrel engine churns out a power reserve of around 60 hours, and in the looks department, the movement features côtes de Genève decoration. The Tonda PF Sport Chronograph on the other hand is powered by the COSC-certified self-winding PF070 movement, operating at a high frequency of 5Hz, ensuring 65 hours of power reserve. Adding a touch of elegance, the skeletonised oscillating weight in 22-karat rose gold complements the satin-finished open-worked bridges, featuring hand-beveled edges.
