In case you weren’t aware of the legend of the Divers Sixty-Five watch, here’s a brief… Back in the 1960s, dive watches were a rage amongst watch enthusiasts, thanks to the focus around professional and recreational diving. Big names in the horological world were all competing to launch models with high water-resistance that could be taken to the deepest corners, while underwater. Seizing the moment, Oris, too, came out with their revolutionary dive watch, with a water-resistance of 100m—a massive accomplishment for that era. This state-of-the-art timepiece was also replete with a unidirectional rotating bezel with timer scale, bold, luminescent numerals; and with continuous evolution, has become one of the most successful watches in the brand’s repertoire.

The Watch Guide
The Oris Divers Sixty-Five chronograph comes in a 40mm stainless-steel case, topped by a unidirectional bezel. Visually pared-down but highly functional, this watch is available with the option of a black leather strap, crafted from sustainably-sourced deer leather or a stainless-steel bracelet

The new model comes in a 40mm stainless-steel case, topped by a unidirectional bezel. If one has been observing, the brand has been focusing on reducing case measurements in some of their recent launches and have been sticking to a range between 43mm and 36mm. So, this sits comfortably within that range and also on the wrist. There’s a domed sapphire glass on both sides with anti-reflective coating and the solid steel caseback also ensures maximum waterproofness for this timepiece. One quick glance at the watch, and one is reminded of the classic dive timers, thanks to the retro design elements such as the monochromatic dial design and the distinctive vintage chronograph pushers.

The solid steel caseback also ensures maximum water-resistance for this timepiece, which is up to 100m

It also stands out for its sweeping lugs, which make it extremely comfortable for the wearer. One can see the 30-minute counter at three o’clock while the continuous seconds sub-dial is positioned at nine o’clock. Visually pared-down but highly functional, this watch is available with the option of a black leather strap, crafted from sustainably-sourced deer leather supplied by Oris’ partner Cervo Volante or a stainless-steel bracelet.
