This was 2021, when assorted dial colours on a watch was still an emerging trend. Oris followed these joyous dials with steel cases in 2023. Only a few months later, the brand released the more dignified-looking Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy Sepia timepiece. This latest dive watch features a black dial against a bronze case and bezel—an aesthetic that is delightfully vintage. The retro-looking sepia-toned colour scheme is enhanced by golden highlights on the dark dial, and the colours are further emphasized by the black textured rubber strap or bronze bracelet that the watch is paired with. The Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy watch looks more like a throwback to the collection’s origins than it does to the fun, flossy colours the collection is named after.

Despite being diving tools, both the dive watch collections by the brand are distinct in their aesthetic and overall appeal. While the Aquis line is decidedly contemporary, the Divers Sixty-Five started off as a reinterpretation of a successful collection launched by the brand in 1965 (and hence the name Divers Sixty-Five). The first model, released in 2015, was a faithful reinterpretation of watches from the 1960s, but the collection soon evolved to include various case sizes, materials and colours. Distinct identifiers of the series include a domed glass over the dial, thinner bezel than the Aquis, a crown sans guards, a mix of baton and round indexes filled with lume, and a lollipop seconds hand. What set the Cotton Candy collection apart was the use of pastel shades against an indisputably vintage material—bronze. A water resistance rating of 100m makes this comfortably-sized timepiece extremely wearable, more so when paired with a three-link bronze bracelet or black rubber strap. A domed sapphire crystal glass sits over the dial, giving the watch its charming vintage character, while the steel caseback engraved with the Oris logo looks rather modern. Behind the caseback is the Oris 733 calibre, with timekeeping and date functions, and a power reserve of 38 hours.
The new black dial stands out against the bronze, decorated with gold-toned hour markers and hands, with a matching lollipop seconds hand, all filled with lume. Oris put legibility first, and the beige Super-LumiNova glows green in dim lighting conditions. Around the periphery is a minute/seconds track in bronze, and at six is a date widow with white numerals against a black background. A dull bronze Oris logo at 12 o’clock and matching text at six enhance the overall vintage-inspired sepia-toned aesthetic of the timepiece.
