The release of their latest Pangaea Day-Date in a black dial with contrasting day and date rings, and minute track in a brilliant yellow, prove that the brand are indeed worthy of the multiple design awards their Pangaea timepieces have received. While all Pangaea Day-Date watches are striking in their information-heavy displays, there’s a certain calm about these timepieces—and it’s not just the relaxed single-handed timekeeping. The latest dual-toned yellow and black Pangaea Day-Date model marks a decade since the collection was first launched. The 2013 Pangaea models stood out for the exposed day and date discs, neatly laid out in recessed, concentric circles, adding depth and dimension to the watch. While a single, black, needle-shaped hand told the time marked along the periphery of the dial, an elongated red arrow pointed to the date and the day of the week towards the centre of the dial.

While the classic ivory, black and blue models were stunning in their monochromatic simplicity, in 2019, the brand relaunched the Pangaea Day-Date with dual tones. On these new models, the day and date discs and the minute track along the periphery of the watch-face are in a different colour from the dial. Then, there is the that beautiful red arrow above the MeisterSinger fermata (pause) logo towards the centre of the dial, and the overall impact of this watch was something else. The Pangaea has received multiple awards for its design code, including the Red Dot Design Award, the Good Design Award, and the German Design Award, making this timepiece among the most awarded in the brand’s repertoire.

Contrasting Concentric Circles On The Pangaea Day-Date Dial

The other fascinating aspect about watching the Pangaea Day-Date’s dial is that the date ring moves clockwise, while, just under it, the concentric day-of-the-week ring moves in the opposite direction, making it captivating to watch the day and date shift at midnight.

For the dual-toned watches, the design team at MeisterSinger have identified colours that will highlight the black of the dial. The Petrol dial, with the minute track and the date and day rings in a shade of rich teal are offset against the matt black of the dial. The triangular marker at 12 o’clock that points to the date and day of the week is in the same shade of teal, while highlights on this teal and black timepiece are in a contrasting white. The Bordeaux red timepiece, too, has similar markings in white against the matt black dial.
