SpotlightIntroducing The IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XX—Featuring A Revamped Design And New Dial

The latest IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XX features an elegant sliver-plated dial—a new addition to the already-existing line-up of blue, green, and black dial options

May We Recommend

Known for their expertise in aviation watches, IWC have unveiled two new versions of their iconic Pilot’s Watch Mark XX model. This special launch is to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the brand’s Mark series—which started when IWC engineered the legendary Mark 11 timepiece for the British Royal Air Force in 1948. This tool watch was equipped with the 89 calibre, housed in a soft-iron inner case to protect it from magnetic fields, while perfect legibility was achieved due to a high-contrast dial with luminescence. Thus, it raised the bar high and set the benchmark for the technical features and functional design, found in most contemporary pilot’s watches. The Schaffhausen-based company set the ball rolling last year, when they added the Pilot’s Watch Mark XX as the latest addition to this with dial options in hues of blue, green, and black. And the new line-up features two silver-plated dial versions. One is presented on a black calfskin strap (Ref. IW328207), while the other is fitted with a high-grade, 5-link stainless-steel bracelet (Ref. IW328208).

The watch comes in a 40mm stainless-steel case, water-resistant to 100m and has been completely re-engineered with a revised side profile and an improved lug geometry to sit more comfortably on all wrists—big or small. The elegant, silver-plated dial features Arabic numerals and sword-shaped hands, which have been filled with luminescent elements to ensure legibility in low-light conditions.

This timekeeper is driven by the in-house 32111 calibre—an automatic movement with a silicon escapement and a double pawl winding system, which supplies a generous five-day (120 hours) power reserve. The front glass is specially secured to remain in place even in the event of a sudden pressure drop in the cockpit.
