H. Moser & Cie.—a name synonymous with a quirky watches swirled in arresting designs—went the irreverent way once again at the 2019 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH). With the introduction of the Pioneer Tourbillon, the independent Swiss watchmaker presents an elegant timepiece that unravels the mysteries of the much revered complication in the world of haute horlogerie. It challenges the status quo by offering a juxtaposition of sporty and classy elements in a tourbillon timepiece, which is a rare find in the vast world of watchmaking.

The Pioneer Tourbillon by H. Moser & Cie. is presented as an “all-terrain tourbillon” and can take on the challenges of everyday wear and tear

The most distinctive features bestowed in several H. Moser & Cie. creations are, one, the absence of logos, indices, and in one instance even hands, and two, the fumé dials in highly skilled gradations of colour. It ensures that Moser stands apart from the rest and always has something fascinating to offer. The Pioneer Tourbillon is crafted with the latter—a riveting midnight-blue fumé dial set in either a steel or a rose gold case, both measuring 42.8mm and water resistant up to 120m.

The way a fumé dial plays with reflecting light is a spectacle to behold. In this Moser, depending on the angle you observe the dial in, the colour changes from an almost midnight black to an arresting electric blue. The large hour markers contrast against this dial in an exquisite manner, lending a sporty touch to an already sophisticated timepiece.
