Round-UpCelebrity Watch: Pink Dials On ‘Barbie’ Stars Ryan Gosling And Will Ferrell

With online and offline conversations in the realm of pop culture and cinema flooded with Barbie and Oppenheimer, and #Barbenheimer (which has its own Wikipedia page, as it turns out), pink is the dominating colour of the season. While the Christopher Nolan-directed Oppenheimer is equally buzzy, Barbie’s pink has emerged stronger in colour palettes seen across social media and so son. As expected, the events surrounding the release of Greta Gerwig’s film based on the popular doll and her better half, Ken, have also seen an abundant splash of pink and rose-tinted hues.

Aside from red carpets being replaced with pink walkways at entrances of the events, and pink outfits galore, there was also pink in accessories, and watches. The two most prominent timepieces seen at these events were the TAG Heuer Carrera and the Oris Big Crown ProPilot X Calibre 400—both with dials in different shades of pink.

We all know that Ryan Gosling is Ken to Margot Robbie’s Barbie in the movie. As the titular character’s screen partner, Gosling has been sharing space and the limelight with the Australian actress. The Canadian actor was on home turf recently, at a press event for Barbie in Toronto. Even though he was scruffier than his on-screen persona, the actor still exuded charm, while he turned up in pastel blue. Offsetting the look of his attire was his TAG Heuer Carrera Date. A brand ambassador for the LVMH brand of luxury Swiss watches, Gosling was sporting the Carrera with a pink dial.

At 36mm, the watch is a time-and-date version, with depth in display. Water-resistant to 50m, the case houses an automatic movement that offers a 56-hour power reserve. The striking pink dial was already a hot item among this year’s new launches in the watch industry, and now it’s going to become even hotter, because of Barbie and Ken.

Will Ferrell At The UK Premiere Of Barbie

Actor, producer and comedian Will Ferrell stars in Barbie as the CEO of Mattel, the toy and entertainment company that owns Barbie. This character perhaps exists in the film as the picture is about how Barbie and Ken step out of Barbie land and into the real world as we know it. Ferrell was seen at the UK premiere of the film wearing a charcoal grey suit with a fuchsia tie. To mirror this combination was the timepiece on his wrist. It was the Oris Big Crown Propilot X Calibre 400 with a ‘salmon pink’ dial. With an integrated bracelet, the titanium watch is a more urban rendition from the brand’s collection of aviation watches. It still has a couple of aviation-inspired elements, such as the big crown and fluting on the bezel inspired by airplane propellers. Unveiled in 2022, this time-and-date ProPilot was accompanied with two other versions, with dials in blue and grey. This salmon one though is the real standout of the series.
