A legacy rich in technical and aesthetic advancements; that’s Carl F. Bucherer for you. The rich heritage of this Lucerne-based watch manufacturing company dates back to 128 years when Carl Friedrich Bucherer set up the first watch and jewellery store in Falkenplatz in Lucerne. Being a trendsetter ever since it’s inception, Carl F. Bucherer was one of the first brands to launch a wristwatch in an industry which was dominated by pocket watches. Launching its first ladies wristwatch collection in 1919, CFB introduced timepieces that would serve as pieces of jewelry, setting the foundation for luxury watches of the future.
The swiss watch manufacturer has always crafted something unique for the ladies be it their famous lipstick cylinder watches or jeweled diamond watches. So when it came to creating something for the modern day woman, Carl F. Bucherer combined its rich legacy with its love for inculcating jewels and created the Pathos Diva, a stunningly radiant and technically reliable watch.
A glimpse of the Drop Dead Diva
The gorgeous diva in question (ref 00.10580.08.25.31.01) is a stellar timepiece in stainless steel. Basking in a minimalistic glow, the case does absolute justice to the name ‘Diva’. Radiating glamour and paying a tribute to the beauty of all women, the Carl F. Bucherer Pathos Diva is designed keeping in mind today’s woman of substance who gives equal importance to her work, her family and is immaculate about her looks. Elegant and uncluttered, the watch helps the diva inside you juggle all these roles with utmost grace and elegance. 54 brilliantly cut diamonds encrust the case giving it an angelic gleam.
Sitting pretty at 34mm the case is appropriately sized for the lady. But the characteristic aureole of the Pathos Diva is the ‘filigree grid’ design on the sides of the case. The beautiful filigree grid makes the watch distinct from other watches for women.
The dial of the watch is as unique as the person wearing it. What I liked the most about the dial is that only six, nine and twelve are denoted by Roman numerals with the date window at 3 0’clock making it easy for the wearer to quickly glance at the time and date. The sword-shaped hands add to the timeless element of the watch.
What gets the diva going?
Moving on to the technicalities, the Carl F. Bucherer Pathos Diva is made to cater to the unstoppable woman who is always on the go. The automatic CFB 1963 caliber movement with a power reserve of 38 hours ensures that she can carry out her duties without having to worry about winding her watch. A sturdy timepiece in stainless steel, the Pathos comes with sapphire crystal protection on both sides and a see through case back for the lady to admire the inner workings of her jewel. A water-resistance of up to 30 m (3 atm) lets her excel laborious tasks at work and win the mother’s day competition at her daughter’s school. The stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp adds the final finishing touches to the watch.
An embodiment of grace
A timepiece that distinctively captures the feminine aura in all its elegant radiance, the Diva, along with all its delicate looks is an extremely reliable timepiece with a powerful Swiss-made calibre, thus giving the lady the best of both worlds. The silver-toned index markers, Roman numerals, and a periphery of 54 brilliant diamonds make the watch a perfect companion by day or night.
