To commemorate 50 years of the first Swiss Watch that had been to space, TAG Heuer launched the Special Edition TAG Heuer Carerra 1887 Space X for men.
The TAG Heuer Carerra 1887 Space X CAR2015.FC6321 features a round, silver dial with Baton style hands in white and grey. Two sub-dials-a seconds recorder positioned below 12 o’clock and an hour recorder positioned above 6 o’clock adds to the greater functionality of the timepiece. The date display has been featured in the hour recorder. The case window is made of scratch-resistant and anti-reflective Sapphire crystal that protects the dial from external wear and tear.
A 43mm, stainless steel case encompasses the complexities of the watch’s mechanism. Flanked by the start and stop buttons of the stopwatch is a winding screw attached to the side of the case. The timepiece has a brown leather strap with matte finish and a deployment clasp that has been meticulously tested for safety.
With a caliber of 1887, the chronometer has a self-winding, automatic movement. Thus regular winding of the watch is unnecessary. The chronometer functions by harnessing the energy from the owner’s movements. This timepiece also comes with stopwatch functions and rapid date correction.
This timepiece has a power reserve of 50 hours and is also water resistant to a depth of 100 metres. Special rubber seals have been incorporated for increased resistance to water.
The Heuer 2915 A stopwatch was worn by john Glenn in 1962, when he piloted the “Friendship 7” spacecraft with a makeshift band that was strapped to his wrist for safety. The TAG Heuer Carerra 1887 Space X CAR2015.FC6321 has drawn inspiration from this model and the resemblance can be starkly seen in the design of the dial.
TAG Heuer’s Carrera Collection was first launched in 1963 and had a very simplistic design containing just the registers and applied markers on the dial. This collection soon went on to become one of TAG Heuer’s first ever ranges of automatic chronographs and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013 having brought out new models every decade since it was introduced to the world.
The Carrera is one of Tag Heuer’s shining trademark ranges of Chronographs. The sleek and sporty finish checks off large and easy to read hour markers while greatly accentuating the luminous hands. The design also comes with a TAG Heuer logo at the crown with a Carrera marking on the dial. The Carrera’s stainless steel strap adds to the powerful look that embodies this series. Fabric, titanium and leather are also available as strap options. The anti-scratch curved sapphire crystal and double anti-reflective treatment allows for the wearer to use the watch with more freedom without fear of scratches or lack of visibility.
This collection provides water-resistance up to 100 metres. Chronograph counters feature stopwatch and countdown functionality. A date window at 6'o clock or 3'o clock gives you a holistic view of time. Powered by an advanced automatic movement, this collection is the epitome of reliability and precision.
