1982 saw the launch of The Constellation Manhattan, a watch characterized by its “Griffes” or claws. It was widely acclaimed by watch aficionados for its breakthrough design and detailed craftsmanship. The collection was completely re-designed in 2009, and since then OMEGA has continued to widen the range with a wide variety of compelling new models.

The Omega proclaims originality in design despite featuring the “Griffes” or claws, which function to keep the sapphire crystal intact, and keep the face of the watch water-proof. It is crafted in a 27 mm stainless steel case. The case features a brown mother-of-pearl dial, which is marked with diamond-set indexes. A diamond set bezel, made of 18 K red gold add, is mounted upon the case, adding charm to the timepiece.
Complementing the case is a bracelet, which is made of stainless steel and 18 K red gold.

A domed sapphire crystal renders the face of the watch free from scratches and marks. An anti-reflective treatment on both sides of the glass enhances readability by virtually eliminating glare. A window at the 3 o’clock position clearly displays the date. The Omega is water resistant to a depth of 100 metres, making sure that the watch does not get damaged because of occasional splashes of water or rain.
Owing to its reliability and accuracy, the timepiece has a remarkable position in the luxury market. Powered by the Omega Co-Axial calibre 8520, the watch is singular in precision and reliability. Its free sprung-balance system, with silicon balance-spring, makes it highly durable as it protects thee timepiece from shocks and disturbances. It is resistant to magnetic fields greater than 15,000 gauss. The self-winding timepiece enables winding in both directions to reduce winding time. You can witness the Co-Axial Escapement movement through the transparent caseback. The movement showcases a rhodium plated finish, along with unique pattern of Geneva waves in arabesque. It has a power reserve of 50 hours.

The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.

The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.

A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
