The Constellation range draws inspiration from the Constellation Manhattan, the iconic collection, which introduced the world to the characteristic four “griffes” or claws feature on the bezel in 1982. In 2009, the collection was revamped and has continued to gain popularity among watch enthusiasts across the world ever since.
Defined by its feminine grace, the collection is meant for the modern woman fond of appearance as well as technical innovation. Charming and impressive, the timepiece draws values from the original line. Rooted in the pioneering spirit of the brand, the Constellation Quartz 24 mm 188.8.131.52.63.001 symbolises everything the brand stands for-elegance, skilled craftsmanship, precision and beauty.
The watch is presented in two toned metal, red gold and Stainless steel. Contained within a stainless steel case, there lies a beautiful brown dial decorated with a supernova pattern. Diamonds are encrusted in red gold holders as hour markers. The value of these precious stones are determined by their cut, colour, carat and clarity, resulting in only the best stones being put to use. A domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal serves as the face of the time tool. Coated with anti-reflective treatment inside, the watch ensures greater readability even on the brightest sunlit days. The bracelet makes use of brushed stainless steel and red gold for alternative links and can be customised for a perfect fit.
The familiar star symbol, associated with the collection is situated on the dial at the 6 o’clock position. Two toned dauphine hour hands add a touch of simplicity to the opulent watch. Damage due to water is prevented, since the timepiece is water resistant to a depth of 100 metres. A 24 mm case makes the watch appear sleek and slender. Powered by the Omega 1376 caliber, the timepiece has a battery life of 41 months. Rhodium plating of the quartz precision movement ensures longevity by reducing friction.
The Constellation Collection by Omega was launched in 1952, has since been renowned for its ultra precise movements and elegantly refined cases. Century, a limited edition wristwatch unveiled in 1948 on the firm’s 100th anniversary, is the progenitor of the collection. Due to the overwhelming response received by this watch, the brand launched the Constellation collection, which imbibed the same qualities. In 1982, the Constellation “Manhattan” was launched, with which the four claws or “griffes” were introduced that keeps the sapphire crystal case intact to securely render the watch waterproof.
The Omega Constellation collection has been exemplified in several sub collections that include the Gents’ Collection, Ladies’ Collection, Orbis Constellation Star, Sedna, and the Luxury Edition. The watches in the Gents’ collection feature distinctive design factors – the renowned claws on the case, horizontal links for utmost comfort, and a Constellation star, which is situated at the 6o’ clock position. Featuring a vast range of watches with different sizes, metals, dials, and diamond options to choose from, the Ladies’ Collection contains at least one watch to suit every wrist. The Orbis Constellation Star supports Orbis International – which gives advanced eye care to some of the most inaccessible regions in the world, and it’s Flying Eye Hospital. An 18-carat rose gold alloy, consisting of copper, palladium, and at least 75% gold, has been used to craft the Constellation Sedna. This breathtaking alloy adds an innovative and stunning appeal to the watch, giving it a long lasting rose-coloured hue. The magnificent Omega Constellation Luxury Edition watches showcase multitude of diamonds in spectacular supernova pattern, which dazzles the eyes of the onlooker.
A gold Omega Constellation “Manhattan” was worn by the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev. One of the 20th century’s most popular musicians, cultural icon, actor, and American singer, Elvis Presley had worn a black-dialled Constellation Calendar.
