About the Zenith Pilot Collection
History
The watchmaking world is sometimes closely associated with the world of aviation. Aviators had a close relationship with their timepieces as it helped with mobile timekeeping abilities. Years passed and aviators were employed with much-sophisticated gadgets and the timepieces on the wrists slowly became redundant. With Zenith, the history is much kinder. Long before anyone could imbibe their minds with a Pilot’s watch, Zenith created the first of its kind in 1904. Since then, Zenith is the only brand with the right to put “Pilot” on its timepiece’s dials. With a big crown with Roman hour markers, the collection entails the idea of flying with precision. The Zenith Pilot collection is a vintage-inspired set of timepieces with modern technical acumen.
The Extra Special
The Zenith Pilot’s collection is known for crafting opulent aviation styled watches. But there is always something extra special for the enthusiasts. When the Type 20 Extra Special series was first launched it was supposed to be a more affordable Pilot and was installed with a Sellita movement. Zenith soon realised that this is not what Zenith enthusiasts want and equipped the series with their El Primero. What makes this Pilot extra special is the copper case finished in matte and that provides these timepieces with a more authentic approach.
Design & Features
The Zenith Pilot collection is imbibed in a round case depicting the early phases of Pilot’s watches. The large onion crown reminds the wearer of the times when aviation was crude and required extreme care and precision. Many timepieces in the collection are equipped with chronographs that are fitted at 3 and 9 o’clock. The chronographs are controlled by two pushers placed above and below the crown. The Zenith Pilot’s collection is a typical pilot’s watch with a large dial and large hour markers. The practical yet profoundly loved Pilot’s collection offers large Roman numeral markers and large luminescent hands.
