Trilobe Nuit Fantastique, Dune

Backdrop

After the success gained by Les Matinaux, Gautier, the founder of Trilobe, decided to put more emphasis on the artistic approach of watchmaking. His tribute to René Char gathered appreciation from the horological community. Tempted to carry forward this tradition, Mr Massonnaeu created the Trilobe Nuit Fantastique collection. Named after a short story from Austrian writer Stefan Zweig, the Nuit Fantastique translates to a fantastic night, a perfect succession to Les Mautinaux, the morning star.

Features

The Nuit Fantastique covers the spectrum of watchmaking with its “New Modern Architecture” approach. Be it the peripheral hour ring or the static minutes and seconds ring, Nuit Fantastique instils a sense of passionate mechanical poetry into the wearer. The minutes and seconds rings are conjoined together in the shape of eight, a symbol of infinity. The small minutes section move clockwise, whereas the larger seconds section move counterclockwise. The grain-finished dial provides this minimalistic timepiece with depth and character. The Nuit Fantastique also offers a ‘Secret’ Edition, an intimate and personalised timepiece which displays the position of the stars for a particular date and time.

Movement

Made specifically for Trilobe, the X-Centric movement was designed in France and developed in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. This automatic mechanical movement was made keeping in mind the unconventional aesthetics and traditional Swiss watchmaking for which the brand is known. The X-Centric provides a power reserve of approximately 48 hours while vibrating at 28,800 vph.
