History Rado was started in 1917 by three brothers Firtz, Ernst and Werner Schlup, with its origin being in a small Swiss town called Lengnau. In the beginning they owned a clockwork factory which they named Schlup and Co. Later they became Rado Uhren AG and produced their first watch collection in 1957. With the creation of the world’s first scratch proof watch in 1986, they marked the commencement of an unusual success story in the history of watchmaking.
