About the Oris Full Steel Collection

History

Every year, Oris comes up with a Holstein Special Edition to celebrate its birthday. This year, the special edition takes its inspiration from the 1998 Oris Full Steel. A timepiece that was one of the most complicated timepieces Oris ever crafted. To celebrate its 118th birthday, Oris decided to launch the Oris Hölstein Edition 2022 under the Full Steel collection.

The GMT

If one takes a glance at the Oris Full Steel collection, it passes off as a simple chronograph. But when observed closely, it reveals the true identity of a GMT. At the 3 o’clock marker is a sub-dial that is equipped with two hands displaying hours and minutes. This little sub-dial is the second time zone and is controlled by two pushers placed at the 4:30 and 7:30 markers. These pushers are further identified by two red triangles inside the dial with +/- markings. Apart from the second time zone, the Full Steel is also equipped with a small seconds dial at the 9 o’clock marker. There is also a date window at the 6 o’clock marker. Similar to the 1998 model, the modern Full Steel is also encased in a 36.5mm case.

Movement

Equipped with the same movement as the 1998 version, the Oris Full Steel is fitted with the Oris 690 automatic movement. Based on the ETA 2836, it is one of the most complex movements by Oris and offers a power reserve of 38 hours while beating at 28,800 vph.
