About the NORQAIN Independence Collection
Backdrop
Launched in July 2020, the NORQAIN Independence collection drops the idea of adventure-oriented living and instead adopts the idea of being independent. Independent from the ideas, the rules, and even the tradition. This exclusive, robust, and innovative set of timepieces was put forward by NORQAIN to instil the explorer, the adventurer, and the anti-conformist inside the wearer.
Features
With index markers and superluminova-filled hands, the NORQAIN Independence collection is home to two brilliantly crafted timepieces. The Independence 21 and the Independence 21 DLC Skeleton. Both of these timepieces are built over a 42mm case but the DLC Skeleton is equipped with a Skeleton dial and the other with a blue dial. The protected crown is reminiscent of the sports-oriented DNA offered by the brand but the delicate Skeleton dial stands in contrast to the brand’s nature. The first skeleton watch by the brand was the Independence 22, a sleek complacent limited-edition timepiece. The Independence 22 holds the DNA of the perfect sports watch with a superior finish.
The Wild Ones
Further boasting the outdoor capabilities of the Independence collection, the brand decided to collaborate with a renowned name in the watchmaking industry, Jean-Claude Biver. Biver was instrumental in creating the brand’s signature carbon-based material, NORTEQ. NORTEQ is six times lighter than steel while offering a perfect cocktail of anti-magnetic, shock absorption and elasticity. Apart from the versatility of the material, the sourcing of the material is also eco-friendly. Equipped with an intricately crafted laser-cut dial, the Wild Ones series is also home to some limited edition timepieces. One such timepiece is the Wild One Burgundy & Grey, limited to just 200 units, the timepiece offers the robustness of carbon without the monochromatic nature of the material. Another limited edition timepiece is the Wild One X Dean Schneider. This timepiece features the logo of the Hakuna Mipaka Sanctuary in South Africa. The strap of the timepiece is made with sand from the same sanctuary.
ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
NORQAIN have used the self-winding calibre N08, based on Sellita SW 200-1, to power most of their time and date models within the Adventure, Independence, and Freedom collections. This calibre runs at 28,800bph with a 41-hour power reserve. In addition to hours, minutes, and seconds, the calibre also shows the date at either the three or six o'clock position. The mechanism allows for a quick date adjustment, ensuring ease of use. The addition of 26 rubies promises the smooth functioning of all the gears and wheels. Akin to most movements from the brand, this calibre N08 also features a personalised NORQAIN oscillating weight
