About the Corum LAB Collection
The Corum Lab collection, introduced in 2019, reflects Corum’s commitment to breaking traditional watchmaking norms. This limited-edition series embodies a bold and innovative approach, offering timepieces that explore the fusion of avant-garde design and technical mastery. The Lab collection is designed for collectors and enthusiasts who value exclusivity and are drawn to unconventional horological craftsmanship. Each model in the series is a testament to the brand’s desire to experiment with watchmaking, presenting unique designs that go beyond the ordinary, making them coveted pieces in the world of haute horlogerie.
Design And Iterations
The design of the Corum Lab collection is undeniably distinctive. It is centred around a striking barrel-shaped case, which immediately sets these watches apart from more traditional round designs. The cases are made from cutting-edge materials like titanium, often treated with black DLC for enhanced durability and a sleek, modern appearance. The openworked dial strips the watch face to its most essential components, revealing its intricate skeletonised movement. This minimalist yet bold approach creates a dynamic visual experience, with the inner workings of the watch on full display. Subtle accents in red or white highlight key features on the dial, enhancing the watch’s contemporary, racing-inspired aesthetic.
The Corum Lab collection has evolved through several iterations, each introducing new technical and design advancements. The Lab 01 was the first model to debut, setting the foundation for the collection with its pioneering “shape movement” concept. Following the Lab 01, the Lab 02 took these innovations even further. It introduced a flying tourbillon and an entirely bridge-less gear train, resulting in a highly complex and visually arresting movement. The removal of the bridges allows the components to appear as though they are floating, adding to the technical allure of the timepiece. Among the standout features of the collection are its custom-shaped movements, which are designed to fit perfectly within the unique case structure.
